BOLDINGS REPORT  14-8-12.

Top weight of the week at Boldings Pools came on the Monday Affordable open which saw Colin Wozak (Telford) notch up another win. Drawn at the back of the Chestnut island, Colin worked pellet to the island and shallow in open water to hammer out 149-12-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs.

Over on peg 7 Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) also offered shallow pellet in the open, combined with close in tactics, to net 113-3-0 of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs.Almost opposite Phil, on peg 32, Carl |Foster (PI Boldings) was a close third on 110-2-0, while a Hawthorn top score of 87-1-0 gave Richard Duke (BAS) fourth.

Terry Slater (Baggeridge) put a bit of daylight between himself and a close battle for second on Wednesday. He had a level 121-0-0 from Sycamore peg 8, by fishing corn and pellet to each side of the peg. Carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs homed in on the bait to give Terry a 13lbs advantage.

Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) edged ahead of Shane Rogers (OAC) in the race for second, his 107-12-0 from peg 24 just being enough to beat Shane’s 106-10-0 from peg 47. Fourth went to a Chestnut best of 103-13-0 by Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) at peg 30.

Carp, barbel and bream all featured in the Thursday winner recorded by John Wild (Stafford) who presented pellet at 4 metres and down the side at peg 4 on the Chestnut. The carp went to 8lbs the barbel to 3lbs and the bream to 2lbs, which added up to 126-1-0.

Chestnut 30 featured again, giving second this time to Clive Wynn (Tricast Weston). He included carp to double figures and barbel to 3lbs in his 90-8-0, which came to pellet at 4metres and close in. Kye Faulkener (Matrix TA) netted 85-13-0 at Chestnut 18 for third and a Beech best of 80-3-0 handed 4th to Andy Williams (Vespe).

Close in maggot tactics put Brian Clark (Marukyu Colmic) on the road to victory at Chestnut 28 on Saturday, tempting carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs, which gave a total of 96-6-0. Tuesday winner Terry Slater added a runner up prize to his collection when he scaled 85-2-0 at corner peg 40, his catch of carp to 7lbs falling to close in pellet.

Andy Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) put his name on third by weighing 80-1-0 at peg 17 and at peg 13 Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) finished on 70-3-0 in 4th.

Corn, meat and pellet all played a part in moving Colin Reynolds to the top of the card on Sunday, helping him to post 116-3-0 at Chestnut 21. Fishing to each side of the peg kept carp to 8lbs and barbel to 2lbs dropping into the net at regular intervals, keeping Colin ahead of Gareth Emlyn (OAC). Gareth was on Sycamore peg 50 and fished maggot to each side of the corner, and he also had a mix of carp and barbel, with samples to 7lbs and 3 lbs respectively giving a return of 105-9-0.

Gareth’s dad Kelvin was on Chestnut peg 38 and followed him in the prize list by weighing 92-7-0, and Chestnut 30 gave another 4th place, this time for Ed Turner (PI Bold) who had 83-9-0 at the whistle.
