Boldings report

 

 

BOLDINGS REPORT  7-12-11.

 

          Any position above 7th on the final round of the Boldings Winter League would have guaranteed Maver Midlands securing the league title, but there was no easing up at the finishing line, and they took the honours with another convincing match victory.  

          Placings on the day were, 1st Maver Midlands 12 points, 2nd Oakengates Angling Centre Black 15 points, 3rd Maver Total Angling Black 23 points, 4th Oakengates Angling Centre Gold 24 points, 5th Barneys Army 25 points, 6th Boldings Bodgers 28 points, 7th Maver Total Angling Pink 30 points, 8th Oakengates Angling Centre Silver 32 points, 9th Dorset B 42 points, 10th Dorset A 45 points.

          Individual winner on the day was Chris Holmes (Boldings Bodgers) making him the only angler to win more than one of the six matches, and he has missed two of them. This Chris time landed 54-14-0 at Ash peg 16 to record his victory.
          Bodgers also took second place in the individual stakes in the form of Pete Ricketts who won his section on the Middle pool with 49-9-0 from 5.
Top individual for Maver Midlands was Dave Brown who had top weight on the Larch Pool, 43-8-0 from peg 22.
4th Nige Clarke (Maver Total Angling Blue) 41-8-0 at Larch 26, 5th Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Angling Centre Black) 37-12-0, Chestnut 32 and 6th Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Midlands) 36-11-0 middle 3.

          Overall top rod was Andy Bayliss-Kyte who had a score of only 12 penalty points, and team mate Dave Brown was only one behind on 13.

 

          Up from fourth last Monday at Boldings Pools Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) took top spot this week. With winter making itself felt, Ian opted for a pellet feeder approach at Willows peg 7 on the point, and found carp to 5lbs to make up a winning net of 41-13-0.

          Last weeks winner Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) was just around the corner on peg 8 where pellet at 13 metres netted 30-4-0 of carp to 3lbs. On the other side of the pool Keith Powell (Preston Innov Boldings) had 27-10-0 for third at peg 17 and just along the bank from him, at peg 19 Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) picked 4th with his 22-6-0.

 

          Wednesday honours fell to Rino Stanko (Oakengates Angling Centre) who had carp on 1lb to 4lbs class on Pellet at 13 metres to weigh in 46-13-0 at peg 14 on the Ash.

          Runner up Matt Stobbs (Oak Ang Cent) was on the point on the Beech Pool where pellet at 6 metres found carp to 6lbs for 38-13-0. Back on the Ash John Wild (Stafford found himself an ounce short when the scales stopped at 38-12-0 leaving him in third. Keith Powell made the frame again and had a pool best of 35-15-0 from the Hawthorn.

 

          Carl Foster (PI Bold) found his winning touch again on Thursday after he drew peg 1 on the Hawthorn. Dropping his pellet baited rig close to the paddles helped him to 68-8-0 which was made up with carp to 5lbs, and gave him a clear win.

          Dave Barnard (R&G) was top man on the Middle Pool, finishing second overall with 52-8-0 at peg 3. At peg 5 on the Middle Eric Bancroft added a third to his Monday second, this time he scaled 49-0-0. John Wild also made a second frame appearance, taking 4th overall with a Deepdale best of 46-7-0.

 

          Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) warmed up for the Winter League match with a win on the Saturday open, when mainly small carp, with the odd one to 5lbs, added up to 39-4-0 at Beech 32. The catch came to pellet at 5 metres.

          At Ash 18 Alan Naylor (Oak Ang Cent) went out to 10 metres with pellet for his 35-15-0 of carp to 4lbs which took second. At Ash 7 Howard Williams (Weston Pools) was just behind second on 35-2-0 and at Beech 11 Mitch Davidson (Oak Ang Cent) extended his run with a 4th placed 30-3-0.

 

          On the Sycamore on Sunday Phil Rhodes (PI Bold) had clear win with a mix of carp and barbel weighing 54-11-0. Pellet at 8 metres at peg 6 put the fish on the scales, with samples to 5lbs (carp) and 2lbs (barbel).

          Round at peg 47 Howard Williams fish at 10 metres with pellet to move up a place on the previous day. He had carp to 4lbs and bream to 2lbs for a total of 35-15-0.
