Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  7/6/11.

Four of the five opens at Boldings Pools were won with over 100lbs this week, with only the Wednesday catches dipping below the ton.

Darren Reeves ((Fish 2000) set the trend on Monday when he drew peg 38 on the Chestnut and pulled out 106-10-0, made up with carp to 7lbs, caught on pellet and corn at 8 metres and down the side.

Only 4lbs behind the winner was Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) with a mix of carp to 5lbs and barbel to 2lbs. Dave was on Sycamore peg 41 and worked pellet at 4 metres and 6 metres to scale 102-10-0.

Third went to Jamie Potts (Boldings Wolves) who had 94-11-0 at Chestnut 32 and close behind him on 92-9-0 at Chestnut 21 was Paul Evans (Willis Worms).

Dave Matson (R& G) made it to top spot after a few near misses recently when he headed the card on Wednesday from peg 3 on the Middle Pool. Pellet and maggot, shallow and close, put 82-9-0 of carp to 7lbs on the scales to give a 6lbs advantage over the rest.

Leader of the chasing pack was Gary Morris (Boldings Wolves) at Middle 6. He fished corn in the side for carp to 8lbs to total 76-2-0. At peg 10 Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) recorded 71-15-0 for third, and Carl Foster (BW) made the first of three pick ups for the week with 64-4-0.

Tony Foster (BW) had top catch of the week on Thursday to deny brother Carl a win. They were both on the Willows Pool and both topped the ton. Tony fished shallow pellet throughout at peg 4 for a steady supply of ghost carp to 7lbs, which added up to 132-11-0 at the whistle.

Carl was on the opposite bank at peg 19 and alternated shallow pellet with corn close in but gradually fell behind with carp to 6lbs coming to his net for a final tally of 107-7-0.

Andy Williams (Vespe) led the way on the Beech Pool to finish third by scaling 101-7-0 at peg 7, and back on the Willows Dave Jones (Weston Pools) had 85-15-0 from corner peg 9 to finish 4th.

When Saturday came Carl Foster completed his climb up the frame to finish first with over 20lbs in hand.

This time he was on the Beech Pool and fished close in with corn and pellet to tempt another bag of carp to 6lbs, which gave an unsurpassed 116-0-0.

Rino Stanko (Oakengates Ang Cent) was top man on the Sycamore with his runner up 93-12-0, which was a mix of carp to 7lbs and tench to 3lbs, caught from each side of peg 50 on maggot.

90-5-0 from Beech peg 28 gave last Saturdays winner Jason Elwell (Pro Line Wednesbury) third and John Francis picked up 4th for his 79-9-0 at Sycamore 30.

The ‘caster master’ Pete Plant (Maver) used his favourite bait to good effect on Sunday, fishing to the island at Chestnut 26, to catch up in the water for a 107-3-0 winner.

Shane Rogers (Oakengates Ang Cent) also fished shallow at Oak peg 3 using pellet to attract carp to 6lbs for 101-7-0 to claim second.

Dave Hailey (BW) was just short of the ton at Sycamore 25 when he scaled 99-1-0 for third, leaving Steve Roberts (Oak Ang Cent) to complete the weeks line ups with his 4th placed 93-9-0 from Chestnut 7.
