Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 16/2/10.

Steve Roberts (Oakengates Ang Cent) repeated his double win of a fortnight ago at Boldings Pools this week, and also took the top catch of week again too.

The week at Boldings began with the restart of the Monday affordable opens, and former regular winner of these, Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) picked up where he left off, to win the first of the new series. Peg 5 on the Hawthorn yielded carp to 4lbs for Colin, who presented pellet at 12 metres to haul in 41-3-0.

Martin Travis (Total Angling) worked both the 10 metre and the 5 metre line with maggot and pellet at peg 13, and also had carp to 4lbs to finish on 30-0-0 in second, leaving Harry Colley (OB Wolves) on 19-9-0 to collect third.

Gary Morris (OBW) won the Wednesday match for the second week running, leading the way from peg 38 on the Chestnut, where corn and pellet at 6 metres and 12 metres had the net sliding under carp to 5lbs for 42-4-0.

Mark Foster (OBW) was up at the point on peg 32 and fished pellet close in and at 6 metres to net carp to 4lbs for 28-6-0. Close behind Mark was Trevor Hope (Telford) on 27-2-0 at peg 28, and Stuart Aston (Swan JT) completed the frame with 25-0-0 at peg 24.

Steve Roberts first leg of his double came on Thursday when he drew corner peg 4 on the Sycamore, which he tackled with maggot, fished into the corner and at 5 metres to contact carp to 6 lbs, to total 51-11-0.

Gary Morris was in the hunt again, finishing exactly 2lbs behind the winner with a net of carp to 5lbs, caught on corn and pellet at 13 metres at peg 21 on the Chestnut. Third went to last Thursdays winner Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) who had a Willows best of 41-9-0, and the Foster family were represented by Carl this time, whose 39-7-0 for 4th came from Chestnut 18.

Roberts was top of the class again on Saturday, with the weeks best catch, 84-0-0. This time he went out to 12 metres with maggot to net carp to 7lbs at peg 36 on the Chestnut.

Dave Craggs (OBW) was round from the point on peg 30 where carp to 6 lbs picked up his maggot offerings at 5 and 14 metres, to give a return of 62-6-0 for second. Steve Hall (Oswestry) scaled 30-3-0 at peg 16 and Carl Foster was 4th again with 28-10-0 at peg 21.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) was the final winner of the week when Beech 7 came up with the goods on Sunday. Andy had carp to 5 lbs on pellet at 7 metres to scale 58-4-0 for his win.

Pete Ricketts framed again, taking second with a pellet based 48-6-0 from Beech 23, to head off a challenge from Dave Hailey (OBW) whose 46-6-0 was top score on the Chestnut, then it was back to the Beech for 4th placed Keith Miller (New Willenhall) on 41-7-0 at peg 20.
