BOLDINGS REPORT 17-11-09

At Boldings Pools Monday proved to be one of the better days, and Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was back at the top of the Monday list with a 61-15-0 winner, which was boosted by a carp of 13lbs, hooked seconds before the final whistle.

Colin was drawn on peg 10 on the Stock Pool, and caught close in on maggot.

Runner up Graham Evason (OB Wolves) worked pellet at 12 metres from peg 3 on the Hawthorn, and was in the driving seat with 54-11-0 until Reynolds hooked his big carp, leaving Graham to settle for second.

Just behind second was Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) on 52-15-0 at Stock peg 11 and Martin Travis (total Angling) had 42-6-0 for 4th at Hawthorn 13.

Hawthorn peg 13 gave a similar weight on the Wednesday open, but this time 43-0-0 was enough to take the coin for Stuart Aston (Swan JT). Pellet at 11 metres brought carp to 5lbs to the net to give Stuart his victory, just ahead of Ian Hughes (Shimano Wales). Ian fished maggot to the island, and into open water at peg 11 on the same pool, and he too had carp to 5lbs in his 41-5-0.

Brian Clarke (Maver Midlands) was top man on the Ash, taking 3rd overall with 30-8-0 at peg 3 and back on the Hawthorn Carl Foster (OBW) was a close 4th on 29-1-0 at peg 9.

Dave Barnard (R&G) took a turn at the top on Thursday when he had the top catch of the week. Pegged on Beech 7, he fished pellet at 6 metres and close in to finish on 63-11-0, helped by carp to 7lbs.

Carl Foster moved up from 4th to second with an Oak Pool best of 61-9-0, which was all small carp caught on pellet at 5 metres and in the side. Colin Reynolds framed again, taking third with 52-2-0 at Oak peg 21, and Graham Evason finished one place behind him again, scaling 43-14-0 at Oak peg 3.

Weights dipped in Saturdays soggy conditions and Keith Powell (OBW) took a modest 30-11-0 to the scales to record victory with a 5lb advantage over Dave Brown (Maver).

Keith was on peg 5 on the Middle Pool and fished at 6 metres and into the corner with pellet, which was picked up by carp to 4lbs. Dave also had a corner peg on the Middle, peg 1, where he worked with shallow caster in open water, combined with pellet in the side, to net carp to 3lbs, ending the day on 25-12-0.

Stock peg 11 filled third again, this time for Jamie Langford (OBW) who weighed 24-11-0, leaving Sam Rushdon (Fosters) to finish things off with 22-8-0 at Middle peg 9.

On Sunday the Oak Pool came out top, giving three close weights for the top three places.

John Francis (R&G) led the way from peg 16, with carp to 5lbs caught on pellet in the side and at 8 metres adding up to 50-2-0.

On the opposite bank, at peg 27, Pete Plant (Maver) fished up in the water with caster to finish exactly a pound behind the winner on 49-2-0, and on peg 5, Phil Rhodes (OBW) had 47-8-0 from the corner for third.

Gary Morris (OBW) had a Beech best of 45-0-0 from point peg 7 to finish in 4th.
