Boldings report

Boldings Report 4/8/09.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) was the top rod at Boldings Pools this week, with two wins and third place to his credit, and one of his wins was made with the top catch of the week.

At the start of the week Harry Colley (OB Wolves) collected the coin on the Monday open when he tempted carp to 8lbs at peg 16 on the Beech. Meat and pellet, fished close in, resulted in 83-3-0 dropping onto the scales after the final whistle.

On the other side of the Beech Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) added a second to his list of Monday successes by fishing corn and pellet at 5 metres and close at peg 32 to scale 75-15-0.

Tim Probert (OB Wolves) was only two ounces off second with a hawthorn top score of 75-13-0 at peg 3 and at peg 1 on the same pool Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) had 66-6-0 for 4th.

Colin Wozak (Telford) added to his recent success at Boldings with a win on the Wednesday open, taking his victory from peg 9 on the Ash. Corn and pellet at 4 metres and in the side brought carp to 7lbs to the net for a final tally of 94-8-0.

Across on peg 16 Tony Foster (OB Wolves) operated with shallow pellet for carp to 6lbs, and wasn’t far off with 89-10-0. Mick Jameson had his first pick up of the week when he took third with 81-12-0 from Ash 23and Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) completed the frame with 74-12-0 from Ash 20.

The two point pegs on the Sycamore claimed the top two places on Thursday when Mick Jameson scored the first of his two wins. He was on peg 13 and alternated fishing at 6 metres out and into the edge with pellet. Carp and bream responded to give a top score of 74-12-0.

At peg 8 Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) used similar tactics, and he too had carp and bream for his runner up 67-12-0. Chris Holmes (Bridgnorth) put a level 65-0-0 on the scales at corner peg 30 for third, and just along the long bank, Tim Probert (OBW) had 59-14-0 in 4th.

Ash pegs filled the top three places on Saturday when Brian Clarke (Maver Midlands) finished ahead of a trio of Rod & Gun men.

Brian was on peg  7 and concentrated his efforts on the 6 metre line, using shallow pellet to attract carp to 6lbs, and at the finish he had 85-11-0 in the net, to finish 10lbs clear of Shane Rogers, the first of the Rod & Gun men.

Shane offered shallow pellet and close in corn at peg 3 for carp to 5lbs, to finish on 75-0-0. John Francis had the peg which gave third place on Wednesday, and repeated peg 23 performance with 67-5-0 for third.

Mel Kitson had the best of the Sycamore catches to finish fourth on 67-5-0.

Mick Jameson drew Sycamore 13 again on Sunday, and only went out to 3 metres with pellet this time, and found a bigger stamp of fish, with carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs seeing him ease clear of the field, finishing 40lbs clear on 122-2-0.

Richard Lawson (Maver) topped the Oak card to finish second overall at peg 11. He included chub with his carp, which came to corn and maggot fished to each side of the peg, and totalled 81-10-0.

Third went to Dave Matson (R&G) on 79-6-0 at Oak 16 and Colin Reynolds framed again with 78-0-0 for 4th at Sycamore 49.
