Boldings report

Boldings Report 23/9/08

Top scorer at Boldings this week was Andy Williams (Vespe) who had the best of a trio of ton weights, which al came from the Sycamore Pool  on the Thursday open. Drawn in the middle of the long bank, at peg 36, Andy fished in close with corn and pellet, a combination which was enjoyed by carp to 10lbs and bream to 4lbs, which added up to a super September weight of 145-7-0.

On the other side of the pool Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) used the same tactics at peg 25, and too found carp and bream, with samples to 9lbs and 4lbs respectively for a final tally of 105-10-0 to take second.

Jack Hailey (OB Wolves) was the third angler to top the ton on the day, he scaled 100-5-0 at corner peg 4, leaving Rob Cooksey (Maver Midlands) to collect 4th with 79-7-0 at point peg 8.

The previous day, Mark Skelton picked up the successful Maver mantle of last week to win the Wednesday match form peg 1 on the Hawthorn. Shallow pellet was the winning method for mark, who netted carp to 8lbs on his way to 93-1-0.

Second came from the Ash Pool when Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) topped the pool list with another shallow pellet catch. Pete was on peg 3 and had carp to 6lbs in his 80-1-0. He was followed by two of last weeks Maver ‘framers’ with Pete Plant in third this time with a Middle Pool best of 76-4-0 which came from peg 8, and Matt McDermott completed the frame with 65-13-0 from Hawthorn 13.

Rob Cooksey made the step up from 4th on Thursday to first on Saturday, when he alternated fishing shallow pellet in open water, with close in corn, at peg 33 on the Sycamore. Carp to 9lbs featured in a 102-10-0 net for Rob.

Tim Probert (Wolves) was on peg 21 on the Chestnut and had all his fish close in on corn, with fish to 8lbs making up his 94-15-0 runner up weight. Third placed Tony Foster (OB Wolves) took his 75-6-0 at peg 24 on the Sycamore, then it was back to peg 28 on the Chestnut for the 59-2-0 which gave Stuart Aston (Swan Jacks) 4th.

Kel had carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs, fishing corn and pellet in the margins to finish 20lbs ahead of Jamie Langford (OBW) who put Chestnut 21 in the frame again when he scaled 72-3-0, having caught on shallow maggot.
