Boldings report

Boldings Report 18/6/08.

Tony Foster (OB Wolves) set a blistering pace at Boldings Pools this week, winning the first open of the week t the complex on Wednesday with a double ton weight, and following up with another big win at the week-end.

Drawn on peg 18 on the Ash, on Wednesday, Tony set to work with shallow fished pellet, out towards the middle of the pool at 13 metres, and was soon hitting into a constant stream of carp between 1lb and 3lbs. They just kept coming throughout the match, giving a final total of 205-0-0.

Last Wednesday’s winner Andy Williams (Vespe) recorded his second Wednesday ton on the trot, but this time it added up to less than half the winners weight. He was on peg 1 on the Hawthorn, and had carp to 8lbs on corn and pellet, fished into the corner. To weigh 100-6-0. back on the Ash, Chris Holmes (Bridgnorth AS) picked up third, totaling 85-14-0 at peg 16, and next door to him Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had a level 79lbs in 4th.

Things were a little less hectic on Thursday when 86-12-0 from peg 27 on the Sycamore gave Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) a leg up from third last Thursday to first this week. Colin fished pellet at 5 metres and corn down the side to net carp to 9lbs to ease ahead of Howard Williams (Weston Pools).

Howard was on Oak peg 8 and had all his fish, carp to 8lbs, on shallow caster tactics, which resulted in 78-4-0 going onto the scales. A Chestnut best of 65-9-0 gave Dave Matson (Rod & Gun) third, with Adam Slade (VDE) just behind on 64-13-0 at Chestnut 30.

Catches were on the up again on Saturday when Tony Foster took on the winners mantle for the second time.

It was the Larch Pool which came up with the goods this time, with shallow pellet tactics again proving best, giving Tony  figures of 101-7-0.

Caster, fished to each side of peg 23 on the Sycamore tempted carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs for Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) but not enough of them to trouble the winner, as Ralph fell short by 25lbs when he scaled 75-11-0. Brian Clarke (Maver Midlands) was on point peg 13 on the Sycamore, where 68-8-0 gave him third and a Beech best of 66-12-0 put Alf Taylor (OB Wolves) into 4th.

Richard duke (WB Clarke) adopted the shallow pellet approach at peg 30 on the Chestnut on Sunday, going out to 12 metres to find his fish. Find them he did, and slid the net under carp to 8lbs to put together a 121-1-0 winner, to make it four different pools topping the card on each of the four opens.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) also fished pellet at 12 metres at peg 5 on the Larch, where carp in the 2lb to 5lb range added up to 102-7-0 for second place.

Third went to Harry Colley (OB Wolves) for the second week running. He was on Chestnut 32, and scaled 75-9-0, leaving Nige Williams (RAF) to finish off the week with 72-6-0 at Chestnut 7.
