Boldings report    15-11-16.

The Monday open at Boldings Pools gave a relatively slow start to the week, with a 41-6-0 winner being enough to give Ian Hughes [Drennan] a 10lbs advantage over the rest of the field.

Pegged number 5  at the back of the island on the Hawthorn Pool Ian pole fished pellet and maggot at 13 metres to find carp to 4lbs, which put him on the road to victory.

Keith Powell PI Boldings] was two pegs along the bank at peg 3 and had carp to 3lbs on maggot at 10 metres to finish in second with a weight of 31-4-0. Owen Boswell [PI Bold] led the proceedings on the Stock Pool with 28-1-0 from peg 3 to pick up third overall, and at peg 10 on the Stock Stefan Davies [Shrewsbury] popped 23-1-0 on the scales to collect fourth.

Conditions and catches improved on Wednesday and Mick Jameson [PI Bold] booked himself into first place on the Beech Pool with a net of carp to 5lbs which returned 60-5-0. Maggot at 10 metres and on the inside line at peg 16 gave Mick his catch.

Tony Foster [PI Bold] went for a pellet approach at peg 5 where smaller fish, samples to 4lbs, added up to 45-11-0. Just behind Tony was Graham Palmer [Fitters] on 45-6-0 and Steve Owen [Monkhall] completed a trio of close weights by scaling 44-9-0 at peg 32.

Maver hot rod Dave Brown tucked another winning performance under his belt on Thursday, after a close battle with the previous days winner Mick Jameson       . Brown was on Willows peg 16 and fished maggot on the bomb for a haul of 54-14-0, which featured carp to 6lbs.

Jameson headed the Sycamore card to finish not far behind in second. His 52-10-0 of carp to 5lbs from peg 50, came to maggot at 8 metres. Peg 7 on the Willows saw Andy Williams [Vespe] record 29-8-0 for third, while Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] had his fourth best 21-6-0 from Willows 12.

Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] won on Saturday, and edged the top weight of the week from corner peg 4 on the Sycamore. Swapping between the 12 metre line and close in tactics, Steve included carp to 8lbs in a net of 73-7-0, which put him clear of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent]. Colin had top weight on the Chestnut, 57-13-0 from peg 6, but was pressured all the way through the match by Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling]at Chestnut 32. Andy finished with 57-7-0 to collect third, while back on the Sycamore, Richie Woodhall [Oak Ang Cent] slipped into fourth with 42-3-0 from peg 8.

Things were really close on Sunday, and only one and a quarter pounds separated first and third places. Andy Kyte moved up to top spot, finishing within 5 ounces of the best weight of the week set by Steve Roberts, the day before.

Andy was on Willows peg 17 and landed a mixture of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs, using maggot, fished at 12 metres and on the inside line, to weigh 73-2-0.

Andy Williams also moved up the frame to fill second place, and was only 3ounces behind with 72-15-0 of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs, taken on maggot at 6 metres from Sycamore peg 13. Just over a pound off second was Dave Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] who had a Chestnut best of 71-14-0 at peg 30, and just around the point from him, Mark Skelton [Oak Ang Cent] finished off the frame with 51-3-0.
