Boldings report

Boldings report    5-5-15.

After two third placings last week at Boldings Pools, both with ton up nets, Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] made it to the top of the card on Monday this week when his 106-13-0 was the only weight of the day to beat the ton.

Drawn 33 on the Sycamore, Colin fed the 5 metre line and the inside line with pellet to draw in carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs to put his weight together.

Over on peg 16 Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] had fish on pellet, fished up in the water as well as down the edge, but his carp were of a smaller stamp, up to 5lbs, leaving him short of the target on 98-4-0. Pete Gadd [PI Bold] and Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] shared third with 91-12-0 each, Pete at peg 45 and Eric at peg 8.

Phil Shaw jumped to the top of the frame on Wednesday when he was involved in a close finish with Steve Owen [Monkhall] on the Middle Pool.

Similar tactics to those he employed in the previous match, shallow pellet, alternated with fishing the margins, worked again for Phil, putting carp to 5lbs in the net for a total of 89-13-0 at peg 10.

Steve was almost opposite, on peg 3, where the carp ran slightly bigger at 6lbs apiece, but his corn and maggot presented close to the bank dint find enough of them, and at the whistle he was one fish short on 87-7-0. Along at peg 1 Tony Foster [PI Bold] put his name on third with 50-7-0, with Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] taking fourth with his 47-8-0 at peg 8.

Last week-ends double winner Dave Brown [Maver] posted the top weight of the week again to claim the Thursday winners purse.

Shallow fished caster and maggot did the trick again for Dave, this time at Chestnut peg 30, where carp to 7lbs with bream to 2lbs added up to 153-11-0 to give a 60lb winning margin.

Runner up Graham Roberts [PI Bold] worked close in and at 5 metres with pellet and corn at peg 21 and had carp of a similar size to those of winner, together with barbel to 3lbs in a total of 93-11-0. Dave Barnard [Stafford] was one fish off second with 88-8-0 at peg 16 with Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] following him on 67-13-0 at peg 13.

Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] made Willows peg 5 a winner on Saturday with a shallow pellet attack which put 135-10-0 of carp to 6lbs on the scales.

Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] was top man on the Hawthorn and second overall with 128-1-0 from peg 11. He fished maggot and corn to the island to take carp to 8lbs. Back on the Willows Alan Naylor [Oakengates Ang Cent] claimed third at peg 13 where he weighed 89-3-0 to keep Stuart Aston [Swan] at bay with his 79-15-0 at Willows 16.

Sunday saw the Hawthorn Pool come up with the goods when dave Lloyd [Maver] picked off carp to 7lbs at peg 5, using pellet to fish to the island, and a change bait of maggot, worked close to the near bank. At the end of the match Dave offered up 119-13-0 to secure victory.

Steve Owen collected his second runner up pay-out when he recorded a Larch Pool top score of 93-9-0, which came to pellet, corn and maggot at peg 14. Less than a pound separated third and fourth when Dave Hailey [PI Bold] weighed in 87-6-0 at Larch 8 and Rob Lloyd [Maver] recorded 86-12-0 at Hawthorn 3.
