Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  27-6-12.

The best frame and the best weight of the week at Boldings Pools came on the Monday Affordable open which was won by last weeks runner up Ian Hughes (Drennan NW). Drawn just off the point, on Chestnut 32, Ian used a shallow pellet approach for a haul of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs for a weight of 149-11-0.

Last weeks winner Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) kept the pressure on the winner right up to the finish. He was pegged the other side of the point on 30, and worked pellet and corn at 5 metres, and in the side, and he also had carp to 8lbs which he combined with barbel to 2lbs, to total 142-12-0.

Along at peg 36, Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) helped to keep the frame average up with 125-3-0 for third, and Harry Colley (PI Boldings) made it an all ton top four when he scaled 105-6-0 at peg 21, making the frame average 130-0-0.

Ash peg 7 came up with a winner for Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) on Wednesday when his pellet bait found mostly small carp to provide figures of 112-8-0.

Colin Reynolds collected another second when his pellet, fished to the island at Hawthorn peg 5, put 95-13-0 of small carp on the scales. In the corner at Hawthorn 7 Dave Craggs (Maver) weighed 87-13-0 for third and back on the Ash, last weeks Wednesday winner Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had 84-9-0 at peg 5.

Ed Turner (PI Bold) topped the list on Thursday, but had less than 2lbs to spare over the runner up. Ed was opposite the point on Chestnut 16, where carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs homed in on his corn and pellet, at each side of the peg, to give a tally of 108-15-0.

Mick Jameson moved up from 4th the previous day to second on this match, with a mix of carp and barbel on pellet, fished to the island and at 5 metres. His net weighed in at 107-2-0. Eric Bancroft collected another third when he scaled 105-6-0 at peg 7, and Wednesdays winner, Pete Ricketts, was 4th this time with 99-10-0.

The Ash Pool provided the second winning net of the week on Saturday after Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) drew peg 20 on the pool, and went to work with shallow pellet, offered at 12 metres. The tactic resulted in a constant flow of carp in the 1lb to 3lb range coming to the net, giving a final return of 103-15-0.

Carl Foster (PI Bold) fished in the side and at 5 metres in the corner at Beech peg 3 for carp to 6lbs, but couldn’t find enough fish to stay with the winner, and had to settle for second on 77-5-0. Carl’s brother Tony wasn’t far behind him on 74-7-0 at Ash 5 and at Beech 16 Clive Wynn (Tricast Weston) had 70-8-0 in 4th.

The point pegs on the Sycamore haven’t produced as many winners as usual this year but Kevin Melville (Total Angling) got the job done on Sunday at peg 8. Fishing close in to each side of the point with pellet saw Kev netting barbel to 2lbs and carp to 8lbs on his way to a narrow victory with 98-5-0.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte was within two pounds of a week-end double when he recorded a Willows best of 96-9-0 at peg 16. Mitch Davidson (Maver Bag’m baits) was top rod on the Beech and a close third overall with 95-11-0 from peg 7 and Dave Craggs made the list again, his 88-4-0 from Beech 20 earning him 4th.
