Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  16/11/10.

Mick Jones (Cobhouse, Worc’s) won his first open at Boldings on Monday when he drew peg 7 on the Hawthorn Pool, and offered maggot in the margins to entice carp to 6lbs to have a go, to give figures of 45-8-0.

Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) was the winner of the Monday match last week, and added a runner up this time out, which was to be the first of four placings for the week at Boldings as well as one on the Winter league.

Pellet and maggot fished to the island at Hawthorn pg 5 put 42-14-0 in Kevin’s net.

Graham Evason (OB Wolves) put up 39-11-0 at peg 3 for third and between him and Evason, at peg 4 Harry Colley (OBW) had 31-15-0 in 4th.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had the first of two wins when he took top spot on the Wednesday open. He concentrated his efforts on the 5 metre line at peg 5 on the Beech Pool and found carp to 4lbs with pellet on the hook, to head a close frame with 42-4-0.

On the Ash Pool, at peg 9, Nige Clarke (Mosella) found bigger fish, with samples to 6lbs, but had to go out to 12 metres to make contact, and fell short of the winner by just under a pound and a half when his scales stopped at 40-14-0. Pete Moss (Telford) was on beech 23 and was a close third with 40-5-0, and just behind him, on 39-14-0 was Kevin Melville with his second placing of the week.

Mick Jameson topped the list again on a wind lashed Thursday open, when he fed at 5 metres and 8 metres with pellet to pick off carp to 6lbs for a very creditable 70-8-0 at Hawthorn peg 3.

Kevin Melville moved back up to second place by posting a Stock Pool best of 51-1-0, taken on pellet at 10 metres and close in.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) was best on the Middle Pool, taking third with 48-0-0 from peg 1, and back on the Stock, Ken Humphries (ABC) filled fourth place by scaling 42-6-0 at peg 4.

Top weight of the week came on Saturday and was taken by Maver rod Richard Buxton. He was peg 4 on the Chestnut, where a mix of carp to 7lbs and skimmers to 2lbs fell to corn and pellet at 12 metres to give a final tally of 82-15-0.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) drew peg 15 on the Chestnut and alternated  shallow pellet with fishing down the ledge to net 67-1-0 of carp to 5lbs.

Mick Jameson assed a third place to his two mid-week wins when he recorded the best weight on the Sycamore, 48-11-0 at peg 47, and Kevin Melville completed his four frame appearances with 41-11-0 for 4th at Chestnut 21.

Sunday saw Andy Bayliss-Kyte make the move up from second to first place with a net of ghosties to 4lbs from Willows peg 17.  Going out to 13 metres with pellet put the fish in the net for Andy this time.

At Beech peg 5, John Francis (Rod & Gun) had carp to 6lbs fishing pellet at 6 metres and in the side, to put 48-10-0 on the scales for second, holding off the challenge of Richard Lawson (Maver) on 47-0-0 at Willows peg 8. Fourth also came from the Willows as Glen Brown (Oakengates Ang Cent) handed over 44-6-0 to the scalesman.
