Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 28/9/10.

Having finished second and third in two matches at Boldings last week, Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) stepped up to top spot on Monday at the complex this week, winning from Stock Pool peg 2.

Pellet at 7 metres worked for Colin, to put carp in the net which gave a final weight of 89-15-0.

With a first and a fourth to his credit last week Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) added two more frame slots to his list this week, starting with a second on this match. He was on Stock peg 4 and had fish at 5 metres on pellet to record 74-15-0. Danny Boden (Oakengates Ang Cent) repeated his third place of last Saturday when he put 60-15-0 on the scales at Stock peg 11, with Graham Evason (OB Wolves) filling the final frame spot with his 52-4-0 from peg 1.

Martin Travis (Total Angling) finished second with over 100lbs from peg 16 on the Beech Pool last week, and had over 100lbs from the same peg on Wednesday this week. This time however, his was the only ton up catch, and he was rewarded with the winners purse.

Corn and pellet fished close in worked again for Martin, with carp to 7lbs coming to the net at regular intervals. His final weight was boosted to 118-15-0 by ‘Wide Load’ a common carp of 22-8-0, who was named by the late Jack Hailey, after he included the fish in a winning bag.

Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) was round on Beech 22 where he worked pellet shallow and close in for carp to 8lbs and a total of 96-15-0 for second. Last Wednesdays winner Gary Morris was third this time with an Oak Pool top score of 86-10-0 from peg 27, and next to him Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had 67-10-0 in fourth.

There was more success for Carl Foster (OB Wolves) on Thursday when once again he recorded the top weight of the week. After winning from the Beech Pool last week, this time he did it from the Sycamore, where he drew on point peg 13. Paste and pellet presented to each side of the point caught the interest of carp to double figures and bream to 3lbs, which combined to give Carl a winning tally of 150-2-0, the only frame weight from the pool.

Gary Morris moved up from third on the previous match to second on this one when he led three close weights from the Chestnut with 89-4-0. The catch, which featured carp to 7lbs, came from peg 9 and fell to pellet and corn at 5 metres and in the side.

Eric Bancroft made the payout again, his 86-10-0 at peg 5 gaining third prize, just ahead of fellow Rod & Gun man Dave Barnard on 85-15-0 at peg 21.

Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) was a surprisingly easy winner on Saturday when the back up weights dropped away dramatically.

Ralph posted 80-5-0 with carp to 8lbs on corn in the side at Beech peg 9, and almost doubled the runner up weight of 41-11-0. That came from Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) who must have been pleasantly surprised at Beech 29 to find the weight had won him second prize.

Just round at Beech 32 Dave Matson (R&G) picked up third with his 38-11-0 and Colin Reynolds was in the prize list again with a Chestnut best of 34-6-0 from peg 11.

There was nothing unlucky about peg 13 on the Willows Pool on Sunday when Andy Bayliss-Kyte staked his claim to the main prize from it to follow up his second spot the day before.

Alternating between 10 metres and close in with pellet, Andy put together 106-2-0 with carp to 5lbs.

At peg 7 on the Chestnut Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) combined pellet and bread to tempt carp to 8lbs on the close in line, but couldn’t tempt enough to challenge the winner and finished 20lbs behind on 86-6-0, while John Francis (R&G) made it three different pools in the first three places when he put the top catch from the Sycamore on the scales to record 79-2-0 at peg 39.

Colin Reynolds picked up for the third time when he took fourth with 77-8-0 at Willows peg 11.
