Boldings report

 

 

BOLDINGS REPORT 1/6/10.

 

          Having had several near misses recently, Carl Foster (OB Wolves) hit the top of the list and was the first of three of the Foster family to frame on the Monday open at Boldings. Pellet, fished into the side at peg 7 on the Hawthorn Pool attracted carp to 8 lbs, and Carl finished 15lbs clear with 70-2-0. Steve Foster (OBW) used corn and pellet at Hawthorn peg 13 to take carp to 6lbs from close to the paddles and at 5 metres to end with 55-12-0.In between the top two, at peg 9, Mark Foster netted 48-11-0 to finish third, with Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) 4th on 46-9-0.

 

          Mark Mountford (Shifnal) moved into the winners enclosure on Wednesday when 91-5-0 of carp to 7lbs on paste at 5 metres gave a return of 91-5-0 at peg 5 on the Middle Pool. Winner of the Wednesday match last week, Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall)  took second this time, his shallow pellet tactics putting 87-9-0 in the net at Middle peg 1.

          Another of the Foster boys, Tony Foster (OBW) was top man on the Deepdale and third overall with 83-13-0 at peg 3, and a Stock Pool best of 60-6-0 gave Alan Jones (Wales) 4th.

 

          Pete Ricketts moved up a place to add another win to his list on Thursday, when he and Mark Mountford swapped places. Pete was on peg 21 on the Sycamore and had carp to 10lbs in a paste based 95-13-0, with Mark hot on his heels with an Oak Pool best of 95-2-0 from peg 1.

          77-3-0 from Sycamore 33 gave Dave Barnard (R&G) third and 4th went to 57-4-0 by Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) at Oak peg 8.

 

          Harry Colley (OBW) finished clear of a close battle for the remaining places when he won the Saturday match from peg 33 on the Sycamore. Corn and meat, fished close in brought carp to 9 lbs to the net for a final total of 97-4-0.

          Mark Mountford was there again, picking up another second thank s to 78-4-0 on corn from Chestnut 3. Paul Gregory (Swan JT) was three pounds behind Mark on 75-4-0 at Chestnut 36 and John Francis (R&G) marked his return from a winter lay off with73-6-0 for 4th at Chestnut 32.

 

          The Chestnut Pool came up with the winner on Sunday when John Wild (Stafford) finished less than a pound in front of Steve Roberts (Oakengates Ang Cent).

          John was on Chestnut 26 and fished pellet and paste to the island to land 98-5-0 of carp to 8lbs. Steve fished pellet up in the water at Oak peg 29, and had carp to 6lbs in his 97-6-0.
