Boldings report

Boldings Report 8/9/09

There were plenty of good weights at Boldings this week, led by a 127-10-0 winner by Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) on the Saturday open.

Fishing with his back to the Willows Pool at peg 46 on the Sycamore, Mick only had to go out to 3 metres with pellet, which he alternated with fishing into the edge, to find bream to 3lbs and carp to 9lbs, which, at the whistle added up to his big total.

Round at peg 21 Sean Barber (Maver Sonubaits) fished into open water with shallow pellet, and in the margins with corn to take a level 89-0-0 for second. Tim Probert (OB Wolves) just got ahead of Tony Foster (OBW) to claim third with 71-3-0 at peg 13, with Tony finishing on 71-1-0 at peg 36.

Sunday produced an amazing frame which saw a tie for first between John Wild (Stafford) and Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) when they both weighed in 86-14-0.

John fished corn in the side and paste at 4 metres at Sycamore 31for carp to 8lbs, and Colin offered pellet and corn at 3 metres from peg 36 on the Chestnut for carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs.

Only ten ounces separated third and fourth, with Shane Rogers (Sonubaits) claiming third with an Oak Pool best of 85-15-0 to pip Keith Miller (New Willenhall) on 85-5-0 at Sycamore 34. Mark Stevens (Willis Worms) was also close with 84-12-0 at Chestnut peg 1.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) fished pellet to the paddles and at 5 metres t win the Wednesday open from peg 11 on the Middle, with carp to 7lbs adding up to 97-14-0.

Gary Eagle (Wolverhampton) led the way on the Hawthorn Pool to take second on the day. He was on peg 13, where corn and pellet to each side of the peg brought 89-1-0 to the net. On the other side of the Hawthorn, Alf Taylor (OBW) was a close third with 87-7-0 at peg3, and back on the Middle, Mick Jameson added a fourth to his Saturday first by scaling 75-4-0 at peg 5.

Tony Foster also made it a first and a fourth for the week when he took top spot on Thursday. Shallow fished pellet did the trick at peg 10 on the Beech, bringing in carp to 9lb for a top catch of 94-1-0.

Last Thursdays winner Terry Slater (Baggeridge) took second this time, with the top catch from the Ash, 67-3-0, which fell to corn and pellet, fished in the side at Ash 20.

Mick Slater (Mid Leisure) had 60-7-0 from the point on the Beech for third and Eric Bancroft (R&G) finished things off with 57-4-0 at Ash 7.
