Boldings Report 26/5/09

 

          Ed Turner (OB Wolves) had the top weight of the week at Boldings Pools as the warmer weather arrived at the week-end. He was pegged on the point at peg 8 on the Sycamore, and alternated fishing shallow pellet at 12 metres with close in tactics. Carp to 9lbs responded , to give Ed figures of 121-7-0 for a clear victory.

          Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) was top man on the Chestnut Pool to take second overall with a maggot catch of carp for 84-10-0 at peg 18. Two New Willenhall rods completed the frame, with Keith Miller third on 72-3-0 at Sycamore 16 and Pete Ricketts putting an Oak Pool best of 66-2-0 on the scales at peg 13.

 

          Colin Wozak (Donnington) was the winner of the Monday Affordable open on the Oak Pool, finishing ahead of Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) and Steve Forest (OB Wolves). Wozak was on peg 8 and fished in the side with pellet to net 49-9-0 of carp to 5lbs. Reynolds was opposite the island at peg 18 and had 38-0-0 on corn and pellet, and Forest was in between the two Colins at peg 16 where he scaled 36-5-0.

 

          Pellet fished to the paddles, and close in at peg 1 on the Hawthorn on Wednesday took Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) to first place. He included carp to 6lbs in a 55-14-0 winning net. Ralph Johnson (Bilston) improved on his third spot last Wednesday to finish second this time. He fished caster to the opposite bank from peg 1 on the Stock Pool for 50-8-0.

          Third went to Eddie Edwards (Wolverhampton) on 48-4-0 at hawthorn 9 and Chris Holmes (BAS) completed a fairly tight top four with 46-4-0 at Hawthorn 3.

 

          Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) took over the winners mantle on Thursday, winning from peg 13 on the Sycamore by fishing pellet to each side of the point for 74-12-0 of carp to 8lbs. Runner up Ian Hodson (Swan JT) offered pellet, up in the water at 12 metres at Sycamore 16 to net 69-2-0. Eric Bancroft (R&G) was round at corner peg 6 on the Sycamore and had 51-0-0 for third, with John wild (Stafford) a pound behind him with a Chestnut best of 50-0-0.

 

          Sean Barber (Maver Sonubaits) marked his new sponsorship deal with Sonubaits with a win on Saturday. Fishing out at 14 metres with shallow pellet, he picked off a lot of small carp in 1lb to 3lb range to establish an advantage of over 11 lbs by scaling 73-7-0.

          Tony Foster had bigger fish at Sycamore peg 18, with carp to 6lbs on corn and pellet, fished in the side. He couldn’t find enough of them though, and had to settle for second with 62-1-0.
