Boldings report

Boldings Report 7/1/09

It was hard going at Boldings on Saturday, with most pegs affected by thick ice, and only pegs close to the paddles could be used. Matt Stobbs (Rod & Gun) was looking to complete his hat trick of Saturday open wins, and did so with the most modest top score in memory at Boldings, 14-7-0. Matt fished 12 metres to the edge of the ice at peg 24 on the Larch, offering maggot to ease out carp to 2lbs.

Jack Maddick (Wolverhampton) was on the opposite side of the Larch, at peg 5 and took an unexpected second with 9-12-0. Fellow Wolverhampton rod Tim Probert led the way on the Ash with 7-0-0 for third overall and a Beech best of 5-11-0 gave Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver) fourth.

Things were a little easier as the thaw set in on Sunday and Kevin Melville (Dorset Pools) doubled the previous days weight to win with 28-0-0. He fished to the stumps at peg 11 on the Stock \Pool to take carp in the 1lb to 3lb bracket.

On the Larch Pool Nigel Wardell (Swan Jacks Tackle) fished at 5 metres and 10 metres with maggot to find carp to 2lbs and roach to a pound for his second placed 19-0-0 at peg 15. Another pool best took third when Sam Rushden (Fox Match) put 16-0-0 on the scales at Deepdale peg 4, and Larch peg 5 featured again, with Steve Owen netting 10-6-0 for fourth.
