FRANCIS WINS AGAIN AS ROD & GUN RODS DOMINATE.

Andy Williams led a trio of Rod & Gun anglers to score wins at the Boldings complex this week. He made the top catch of the week to win on Wednesday, taking the honours with an even 78-0-0 from peg 30 on the Chestnut. Opposite Andy, at peg 18 was Chris Holmes Bridgnorth AS) who slipped 65-7-0 into the net for second.

The ever present Dave Barnard (Maver Wolves) put in the first of three appearances with a Deepdale best of 57-14-0 to take third, ahead of an in form Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) on 57-5-0, which was a Hawthorn best.

On Thursday Steve Roberts dropped into top spot by fishing pellet and maggot into the corner at peg 3 on the Sycamore Pool, and picking up carp to 8lbs on his way to 53-0-0. Fellow Rod & Gun rod Mel Kitson collected second with an even 44lbs from peg 48, just beating Howard Williams (Wrexham). He was on peg 30 and scaled 43-6-0 for third, and Dave Barnard framed for the second time with 38-14-0 off the point (peg 8).

John Francis followed up his win last Saturday with another Saturday best, to become the third Rod & Gun winner of the week. He drew on the Middle pool this time and offered pellet at 8 metres and close in to narrowly beat Dave Barnard. Dave was on peg 9 on the Hawthorn, and fished pellet to the island and close in. At the whistle, only 3ounces separated the two, with John scaling 57-10-0 and Dave 57-7-0.

Last Sundays winner Richard Duke (WB Clarks) was close behind the top two with a Beech Pool best of 55-5-0, to take third from Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Rod & Gun) who also had a pool best with 53-12-0 from Deepdale 9.

Steve Hall (Morgans Angling) made the trip from Oswestry pay off on Sunday when he took charge form peg 24 on the Sycamore. Sticking to the 8 metre line with pellet, Steve found carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs to pull 10lbs clear of Colin Reynolds (Bilston Angling) by scaling 63-14-0. Colin was on the central spit, at peg 15, and he too caught on pellet, taking fish at 6 metres and close in for 53-11-0. Almost opposite him, at peg 21, another Bilston rod, Ralph Johnson took third with 40-11-0, and Nick Powell (OB Wolves) led the way on the Chestnut with 39-3-0 to finish 4th overall.
