Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 7/9/10.

Cooler nights and shorter days with the approach of Autumn hasn’t slowed sport at Boldings Pools, where this weeks lowest winning weight was over 85lbs and the week-end matches both produced ton up top threes.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) was just two ounces short of starting the week with a ton when he won the Monday open on the Sycamore with 99-14-0. Pegged on peg 24, Dave went to work with pellet, alternating the 5 metre line with fishing into the margins to pick off carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) continued his run of form to finish second with a paste based 78-12-0 from peg 33 He netted carp and small barbel from each side of the peg.

Eric Bancroft (R&G) moved up a place on last week to pick up third and was less than 2lbs behind the runner up with his 77-1-0 at peg 48. At peg 16 Martin Davenport (Dorset Pools) scaled 75-4-0 in 4th.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) returned to the frame after a couple of weeks absence when he topped the card on the Wednesday open, winning from peg 8 on the Middle Pool. Pellet and paste at 5 metres had carp from 1lb to 4lbs dropping into the net at regular intervals from to give final figures of 85-7-0.

On the Stock Pool Keith Miller (New Willenhall) had carp to 6lbs on close fished pellet at peg 7, but couldn’t keep up with the winner to end with 72-14-0. Back on the Middle Bob Tromans (fiery Holes) had 51-11-0 for third peg 5 and at Stock peg 2 Tony Foster (OBW) claimed 4th with 49-6-0.

John Wild (Stafford) followed up a win last Sunday with another win on Thursday when he exactly matched Mondays winning weight of 99-14-0. It was the Chestnut Pool which came up with the catch this time and John was drawn on peg 1 where pellet in the side and paste at 4 metres put carp to 8lbs on the scales.

Eric Bancroft was in the prize list again, picking up second this time with a mix of carp and bream on pellet and corn for 78-12-0 at Chestnut peg 38.

An Oak Pool top score of 71-9-0 at peg 16 saw Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) into third, and Mondays winner Dave Barnard collected 4th thanks to 65-10-0 from Chestnut 30.

For the second time in two weeks Shane Rogers (Oak Ang Cent) had top weight of the week at Boldings when he led four ton up weights in the frame.

Shane was on peg 5 on the Beech Pool, and like last week, fished paste to tempt his fish, with carp to 6lbs adding up to 130-12-0.

Gary Morris (OBW) used corn and pellet close in at peg 15 on the Hawthorn to find carp to 8lbs on his way to a level 118-0-0 and second place. Mick Jameson made the pay out again by scaling 111-9-0 at hawthorn 13 and Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) completed the big frame when he scaled 105-9-0 at Beech 7.
