Top weight of the week at Boldings came on the Wednesday open when Andy Williams (
That put him nearly 10lbs clear of a tie for second between Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) and Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure). They both scaled 82-14, Pete at Sycamore 27 and Mick at Sycamore 21. A long way behind them, in 4th came Jason Atwell (OB Wolves) on 39-4-0 at peg 39.
Ed Turner (OB Wolves) fished corn and pellet close in to each side of corner peg 4 on the Sycamore to win on Thursday, picking off carp to 6lbs on his way to 78-12-0.
Richard Lawson (Maver Mid) caught on maggot and corn, close in to the point at peg 13, with carp to 8lbs making up his 72-13-0 runner up net. Not far behind Lawson was Gary Morris (OB Wolves) on 69-8-0 at peg 25, and Jack Hailey (OB Wolves) finished off the frame with 57-2-0 at peg 8.
The Larch pool came up with a narrow victory for Steve Fleming (Drennan NW) on Saturday. His shallow caster approach resulted in 63-14-0 of carp to 6lbs dropping into the net at peg 24. Adam Slade put the first paste based catch to make the frame on the scales at peg 24 on the Sycamore, with a total of 62-9-0 giving him second. Steve Hall (Oswestry) kept things tight with 59-5-0 for third at Sycamore 8, and Darren Frost (Shimano Wales) completed the frame with 55-10-0 at Sycamore 39.
Sunday saw an even closer finish, with only 9 ounces separating Rod & Gun duo Matt Stobbs and Eric Bancroft. Matt offered maggot and corn to each side of the point at peg 8 on the Sycamore to snatch top place with 68-14-0, helped by carp to 7lbs. Eric put Sycamore 24 into the runner up spot for the second day running. He used corn, maggot and pellet for his 68-5-0 of carp to 6lbs.
Third and fourth were close too, with Dave White (Maver Mid) getting third ahead of Phil Davies (Shimano). Dave had 61-6-0 and Phil 60-2-0.
