Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT

Boldings Pools produced ton up winners on each of the five opens staged there, with the Sycamore Pool proving best four times out of five, and providing top catch of the week for Martin Davenport (Dorset) on Bank Holiday Monday. He drew point peg 13 on the Sycamore and worked with maggot to each side of the point to tempt carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs which added up to a superb 137-2-0.

Runner up Dave Brown (Wolverhampton) also proved that 13 is anything but unlucky by taking 101-5-0 form peg 13 on the Oak to finish second. Dave fished corn down the edge to find carp to 6lbs.

Karl Haywood (Sedgeley Lions) was in the corner at peg 30 on the Sycamore and netted 96-10-0 for third, then it was back to the Oak for 4th man Dave White (Maver Midlands) on 82-6-0 at peg 5.

The week at Boldings started with a ton up double header when Andy Williams (Telford) won with 117-8-0 on Wednesday, and Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had 104-7-0 in second.

Andy was Ash peg 9 and fished corn close in for carp to 7lbs, while Mick fished pellet at 5 metres and to the island at peg 11 on the Hawthorn. Mark Foster (OB Wolves) wasn’t far behind on 96-4-0 at Ash 23 and Frank Mountford (Wolverhampton) was back in the frame with 75-13-0 for 4th.

The other point peg on the Sycamore, peg 8 came up with a 109-1-0 winner for John Wild (Stafford) on Thursday, when maggot was again the winning bait, and bream featured again, together with carp.

Peg 13 also produced bream and carp again, with Jack Hailey OB Wolves) putting 96-5-0 of then on the scales for second. Over to Jacks right, Harry Colley (OB Wolves) netted 61-0-0 for third, and a Larch best of 60-14-0 gave Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) 4th.

Dave Brown added a win to Bank Holiday runner up when he left the rest trailing on Saturday. A succession of carp to 8lbs came to his maggot offering at peg 49 on the Sycamore, and when the whistle went, he had 136-15-0 in his net.

With his back to the winner, on Willows peg 18, Ian Hughes (Shimano Wales) found a mix of carp and bream with pellet at 8 metres for 84-1-0 to pick up second.

Martin Davenport warmed up for his big win with a third best of 69-15-0 at Sycamore 31, and Mick Jameson framed again with a close 4th of 68-13-0 at Sycamore 5.

Dave White was another rod to add a win to a Bank Holiday placing when he took the honours on Sunday, completing a full house of ‘tons’ by weighing in 112-3-0 at Sycamore peg 2. Corn at 8 metres and maggot close in saw him picking off carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs.

Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) also found bream and carp at peg 24 on the same pool, using the same tactics, to weigh 93-0-0. Third man Eric Bancroft (R & G) was top on the Ash with 88-6-0 and a level 88-0-0 from the Chestnut saw Ian Hughes in the frame again.
