Boldings report

Boldings report 9-7-14.

There were plenty of big weights at Boldings Pools this week, with six different pools producing catches in excess of 100lbs.

First up was the Beech on Monday when peg 7 responded to a paste approach by Richard Duke [Middle Severn Angling]. Carp to 8 lbs put in an appearance to give Richard 162-15-0 for a comfortable win.

Runner up Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] worked corn and pellet at 4 metres and close to the bank for 124-4-0 at Beech 18. The Hawthorn also came up with ton bags, the best of which was recorded by Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] who took third overall by scaling 115-4-0 at peg 5, and two pegs away at number 3 Keith Powell [PI Boldings] netted 107-11-0 for 4th.

Peg 36 on the Chestnut yielded 116-6-0 to hand victory to Josh Humphreys [ABC] on Wednesday. Carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs snapped up his corn, fished close in to the side.

The Sycamore Pool provided Mick Keene [Tri West] with a runner up 102-4-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs, which homed in on pellet and corn, fished into the corner and at 4 metres at peg 3.

Last weeks double winner Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] had the first of two third places for this week when he scaled 88-9-0 at Sycamore 25, and at Chestnut 18 Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] had the first of three placings by weighing 72-14-0.

Howard Williams [Tri West] decided on a different approach on Thursday, offering dog biscuit, up in the water at peg 8 on the Sycamore. Carp to 8lbs liked the change, giving a return of 103-7-0, which put Howard top of the list.

Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] worked maggot and pellet at Oak 29  to take fish from the 5 metre line as well as close, to finish just short of the ton on 99-7-0. On the same pool, at peg 24, Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] was just under 4lbs off second with his 95-9-0. Andy Williams had another 4th, but had to share it with Tony Foster [PI Bold] when they both weighed 89-2-0 on the Sycamore.

Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] had the fish at Beech peg 11 in a feeding frenzy on Saturday, with a lot of fish in 1lb to 4lbs range snapping up his shallow fished pelletto give the weeks best total of 193-7-0 and a 70lb advantage over second placed Les Thompson [Matrix].

Les was on Beech 20 and fished shallow pellet, combined with close in tactics to land 123-4-0 of carp to 6lbs. Dave Matson had another third placing, this time with a Hawthorn best of 112-15-0 from peg 3. Tony Foster was also in the frame again, his 100-7-0 for fourth coming from Beech 23.

After a few near misses recently Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] clinched a win on Sunday with a shallow caster attack at Willows peg 11. Carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs competed for the bait, and at the finish, Dave had slipped 141-1-0 in the net.

Last Sundays winner Dave Hailey took second from Larch peg 24, where shallow pellet put 120-14-0 of carp to 6lbs on the scales. Andy Williams had his third pick up of the week by weighing 117-3-0 at Willows 5, and at peg 22 Kev Melville [Matrix TA] completed the final frame with 91-5-0.
