Boldings report 23-7-14.

 

 

          There were plenty of barbel as well as carp in evidence at the Monday open at Boldings Pools. Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] claimed the main prize from peg 18 on the Willows Pool by offering caster, up in the water, to tempt carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs on his way to 140-11-0, which put him well clear of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent]. Colin was on peg 5 on the opposite bank, and worked pellet at 5 metres and down the side for a mix of carp and barbel to 7lbs and 3lbs which weighed 95-10-0.

          At peg 9 dave Matson had 93-9-0 in third and at peg 22 Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] scaled 89-8-0 in 4^th.

 

          Sport was slower on the Sycamore on Wednesday and 78-1-0 of carp and barbel on pellet gave victory to Tony Woolaston [Kings] at peg 39.

          Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] caught his runner up 60-2-0 on maggot and corn at corner peg 4. Third went to Darren Painter [Ind] who had 58-6-0 at peg 16, and 55-2-0 gave 4^th to Tony Foster [PI Boldings] at peg 33.

 

          Andy Williams more than doubled his weight on Thursday to move up to first place, his 149-13-0, which included carp to 12lbs, from peg 15 on the Hawthorn Pool giving him a clear win.

          Second came from Sycamore 24 where Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] used maggot for a mix of carp and barbel totalling 97-3-0. 91-13-0 from Sycamore 30 handed third to Paul Evans [PI Bold] and in a close 4^th was Carl Foster [PI Bold] on 89-13-0 at Hawthorn 9.

 

          Top weight of the week came on Saturday and fell to Steve Hall [Oswestry] at Willows peg 5. Steve operated with shallow pellet for a haul of carp to 4lbs and barbel to 3lbs which gave a handsome return of 160-4-0.

          Phil Foster [PI Bold] used pellet and corn at Willows 9 to finish just short of 150lbs on 149-11-0 in second. Tony Foster was back in the frame with 143-8-0 for third, leaving Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] to finish things off with 85-8-0.

 

          Sunday gave another heavyweight frame which was topped by dave Hailey [PI Bold] at Oak peg 1. He fished shallow with pellet to heave out 151-4-0 of carp to 6lbs.

          Colin Wozek [Matrix TA] was on Willows 17, where shallow caster put 138-13-0 on the scales, then back on the Oak Shane Rogers [Oak Ang Cent] had 112-12-0 for third.
