Boldings report

Boldings report 16-7-14.

Two Carney Pool visitors collected the main prizes on the Monday open at Boldings Pools this week, with match winner John Ashwell recording the best weight of the week, 177-4-0, to take the winners purse. He caught on shallow pellet at Beech peg 18, and had carp from 1lb to 5lbs.

Brad Perks also caught shallow on pellet at Beech 32, taking carp in the same range for a total of 157-2-0.

Last Wednesdays winner Josh Humphreys [ABC] was top man on the Oak Pool and third overall with 142-11-0 at peg 8, and at Beech 5 Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] weighed in 122-8-0 in fourth.

Mark Mountford [Shifnal] is back in his stride on the match scene and picked up the winners purse on Wednesday. His was the only frame weight from the Larch Pool, and came to paste and corn, fished at 5 metres, and close to the bank at 24. Carp to 7lbs homed in on the bait to give figures of 130-11-0.

Josh Humphreys was in the list again, his runner up 118-10-0 on shallow pellet at peg 5 being the best of three Willows Pool weights in the frame. Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] put his name on third by scaling 98-12-0 at peg 15, and 90-15-0 from peg 13 gave fourth to Tony Foster [PI Bold].

Phil Foster took the spoils on Thursday, winning from peg 18 on the Sycamore. Close in tactics, with pellet and corn attracted carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs, which helped Phil to build a 119-11-0 winning net.

Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] chose to fish maggot down the side at peg 33, and found carp together with barbel ready to feed, with samples to 7lbs and 3lbs giving figures of 98-6-0 for second. A level 92-0-0 from peg 24 put Howard Williams [Tricast Weston] in third, ahead of Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] on 63-6-0 at peg 50.

Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] won for the second Saturday on the trot, and was only just over a pound short of top weight of the week again. Drawn on peg 5 on the Beech, Paul presented caster and pellet up in the water for an all carp 176-0-0, which featured carp to 6lbs.

As in the Wednesday match, the remaining weights came from the Willows Pool, with Phil Foster backing up his Thursday win with a runner up placing. His pool best of 107-2-0 fell to shallow pellet, combined with close in corn tactics at Willows 16.

John Ashwell added a third to his earlier win, he scaled 97-14-0 at peg 5, and another earlier winner, Mark Mountford framed again with 96-8-0 at peg 9.

The Willows provided the winner on Sunday for Andy Kyte [Maver Sonubaits] who worked with shallow pellet at peg 13 to pick off carp from 1lb to 5lbs with barbel to 3lbs, which totted up to 121-15-0.

Colin Wozek [matrix TA] used the same method at Larch peg 22, but finished needing one more fish when his carp to 7lbs returned 117-1-0. Round at peg 16 on the Larch Richard Lawson [Shrewsbury] claimed third with 98-7-0, with Andy Williams just behind him on 97-3-0 at Willows 19 to pick up another fourth.
