Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  19-2-13.

With no Monday match at Boldings this week, Brian Clarke [Colmic Marukyu] collected the first winners purse of the week by winning the Wednesday open. Maggot has been finding the fish on the high number pegs on the Sycamore Pool, and it did the trick for Brian at peg 45 on Wednesday. He presented the bait at 12 metres to bring a string of carp in the 1lb to 3lbs bracket to the net, which gave a winning total of 40-1-0.

On the point at peg 13 Mick Jameson [Mid Leisure] offered maggot at 6 metres to find carp to 4lbs and bream to 2lbs for his runner up 37-3-0. Close behind Mick was Dave Cole [Bronx] on 36-10-0 at peg 48, and completing a tight frame was Gary Morris [ PI Boldings] on 35-2-0 at peg 4.

Mick Jameson improved on his Wednesday finish to take top spot on Thursday with a catch of carp to 5lbs at peg 16 on the Beech. Fishing maggot at 4 metres and 10 metres found the fish this time, for a total of 41-3-0.

At peg 23 on the Ash Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] fished into the corner with maggot to net carp to 4lbs on his way to 36-4-0 and second place. Frank Mountford [PI Bold] had 29-12-0 from point peg 7 on the Beech to finish third and at Beech 14 Terry Edwards [Kings] weighed 22-12-0 for 4th.

Weights started to climb at the week-end and on Saturday Carl Foster [PI Bold] had over 50lbs to win. He drew Sycamore peg 16 and fished maggot down the edge at the corner peg for a catch of small carp from half a pound to three pounds to register a clear win with 54-7-0.

Steve Roberts [Oakengates Ang Cent] was on the Chestnut, where maggot fished to the island at peg 26 attracted carp to 3lbs and bream to 2lbs for a weight of 39-9-0, which was matched by fellow Oakengates rod Matt Stobbs at Sycamore 21 for the pair to share second place. Rob Brennan [PI Bold] wasn’t far behind on 37-1-0 for 4th at Sycamore 6.

There was further improvement on Sunday when Andy Kyte [Maver Sonubaits] posted the weeks best weight, and Beech peg 16 won for the second time. Andy included perch to 3lbs with carp to 5lbs in his winning 63-1-0, which he took on maggot, fished at 7 metres.

At Beech 18 Keith Powell [PI Bold] mixed roach to 1lb with carp to 4lbs to make up his runner up 52-13-0. Keith also caught on maggot, whish he offered at 8 metres. Kelvin Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] picked up third for his 49-9-0 at Beech 7, with his son Dave Emlyn [OAC] taking 4th with an Ash best of 49-9-0.
