BOLDINGS REPORT
Steve (Postie) Roberts (OAC) picked up a win double at Boldings Pools this week, recording the top two weights into the bargain.
The week began with a win for Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) who headed the Chestnut frame on Wednesday with 53-8-0, which made him a clear winner. Having drawn peg 32, Pete offered pellet at 8 metres and 12 metres to pick off carp to 6 lbs on his way victory.
Opposite Pete on peg 9, Gary Morris (OB Wolves) worked corn and pellet at 14 metres for carp to 5lbs, but couldn’t sustain the winners catch rate and finished well short on 31-13-0.Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) was a further 10lbs short on 21-8-0 at peg 14 and just behind him, on 21-4-0 was Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) at peg 36.
Steve Roberts collected the first of his two winners purses on Thursday when he put maggot to good use at peg 37 on the Chestnut, putting 58-8-0 of carp to 5lbs in his net. Round at peg 21 Howard Williams (Weston Pools) fished to the island with corn and pellet to net 41-12-0 for second. Pete Ricketts was in the frame again with 37-13-0 for third at Chestnut 7, and a Sycamore best of 31-14-0 from peg 46 saw Gary Morris in the frame again.
Saturday saw Roberts top the biggest turn-out of the week with the biggest weight of the week. This time he drew the Sycamore pool and went to work with maggot again, with carp to 6lbs responding on the 10 and 12 metre lines for a return of 81-2-0 at peg 46.
Tim Probert (OBW) fished maggot and corn at peg 13 on the Larch to put 59-10-0 on the scales to claim second. Ted Ecclestone was in the prizes again with a third best 49-8-0 at Sycamore 18 and Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had a level 49-0-0 at Larch peg 4 for 4th.
Mick Jameson moved up to first place on Sunday when he took a mixture of carp and silver fish at Middle Pool peg 3 for 53-3-0, the catch coming to maggot and pellet fished at 10 metres.
Brian Clarke (Maver) was on corner peg 8 on the Middle and also had carp and silvers, using pellet at 8 metres, but was some way behind at the whistle on
