Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 16/2/10.
Boldings Pools produced the first ton up weights of the year this week, with over 100lbs winning both of the week-end matches.

The week started with a double win for Karl Haywood (Sedgeley Lions) who led the way on Monday and Wednesday. Monday saw him on peg 10 on the Chestnut, fishing pellet at 4 and 8 metres to pick up carp to 7 lb on his way to 59-7-0.

Runner up Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) offered pellet to the island, and in the channel at peg 21 to net 44-10-0 of carp to 5lbs. Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) finished in third on 36-5-0 and last weeks winner Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) had 33-1-0 in 4th.

Karl drew peg 24 on the Sycamore on Wednesday and put pellet to use again, fishing at 8 metes and close in to find carp to 8 lbs for his 51-9-0 winner.

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) was a close second with a corn and pellet based 50-0-0 at Sycamore 4. Andy Williams (Vespe) was top on the Chestnut and third overall with 48-6-0, which was closely followed by 47-14-0 from Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) at Sycamore 16.

Gary Morris moved up to first place on Thursday, winning from Oak peg 16 which yielded 50-1-0 to pellet, fished down the side and at 10 metres.

Tony Foster (OBW) led a scramble for the rest of the placings, posting 46-1-0 at Beech 16 for second. At Beech 7 John Wild (Stafford) scaled 45-8-0 to just beat Ken Humphries (Morgans) on 5-45-3-0 at Beech 11.

Sam Rushdon (Fosters Tipton) was the first 2010 angler to record 100lbs when he topped the Saturday card with 105-7-0. Shallow fished caster and maggot, fished at 12 metres did the trick for Sam at peg 5 on the Sycamore, and his catch featured carp to 10lbs.

Steve Roberts (Oakengates Ang Cent) was only one fish short of a ton when he weighed 98-2-0 at Sycamore 33. Steve’s fish came to maggot, fished down the side. Neil Turner (Fosters) had 77-7-0 at Sycamore 13 for third, ahead of Keith Powell (OBW) on 69-13-0.

Dave Brown (Maver) added almost 20lbs to Saturdays winning score when he put 124-13-0 on the scales at peg 15 on the Larch on Sunday. Dave fished shallow with caster and maggot at 14 metres for carp to 8lbs.
Sycamore 13 framed again, with Mark Stevens (Sonubaits) taking second with 65-1-0, a catch which came to shallow pellet. Steve Roberts collected again, filling third spot this time with a Beech best of 61-4-0 and Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) had an Oak best of 58-3-0 for 4th overall.
