Boldings report

Boldings Report 21/1/09

Dave brown (Maver) had the fish feeding well at peg 11 on the Stock Pool at Boldings on Saturday, to record the top catch of the week, beating the rest by a long way when he recorded 92-1-0. All of Dave’s fish, carp in the 1lb to 3lb class, came to maggot, fished against the stumps.

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) also had feeding fish in front of him at peg 3 on the Hawthorn, and tempted 52-8-0 with corn at 5 metres and 9 metres, his catch featuring carp to 4lbs . Pete Plant (Maver) had the top catch on the Ash Pool, 39-0-0 to take third. Two Rod & Gun men followed Pete, with Dave Barnard 4th on 33-5-0 at Hawthorn peg 11, and triple winner Matt Stobbs rounding things off with 31-4-0 at Stock peg 10.

Stock peg 11 was also a winner in the week when Tony Foster (OB Wolves) drew it for the Wednesday open, and maggot fished to the stumps also did the trick on this match, with carp to 3lbs making up a top score of 39-11-0 for Tony on a raw day.

Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) fished into the corner at peg 5 on the Middle Pool, but couldn’t tempt the bigger carp, and finished with 23-1-0 of carp to 2lbs for second.

Corner peg 1 on the Hawthorn  Pool gave Howard Williams (Weston Pools) third  when he put 17-11-0 on the scales, and 15-4-0 from Stock peg 7 saw Stuart Aston (Swan Jacks) pick up 4th.

Three different pools gave the top three weights again on Thursday, when the Chestnut came out top for Pete Tolley (OBW) and corn beat maggot as top bait. Pete was on peg 30 where he switched between 3 metres and 12 to net carp to 4lbs on his way to 33-12-0.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) fished into the corner with maggot at peg 18 on the Sycamore to nick second by less an ounce with 22-3-0. Two of Saturdays ‘framers’ followed, with Dave Barnard getting ahead of Gary Morris this time. Dave had an Oak Pool best of 21-4-0 for third and Gary, at peg 37 on the Chestnut, had 20-12-0 for 4th.

On Sunday the Larch Pool took its turn at the top, providing Graham Roberts (OBW) with a 38-8-0 winner. Pellet was top bait this time, and carp to 8lbs responded  to Grahams offerings, on the 8 metre line at peg 5.

John Francis (R& G) also fished pellet at 8 metres at the next peg to the winner, but a smaller stamp of fish left him 8lbs short at the finish when he scaled 30-9-0. Ed Turner (OBW) led the way on the Chestnut Pool to finish 3rd on 24-13-0 at peg 21, while an Ash Pool best of 23-2-0 Gave Dave Hailey (OBW) 4th.
