Boldings report

Boldings Report 2/9/08

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) finished third on the Nick Gretton Memorial match at Boldings Pools with 128lbs last Sunday, then repeated the weight on the Bank Holiday Monday open, but this time he finished top of a trio of ton weights.

Colin drew peg 20 on the Sycamore and fished corn and pellet to each side to find carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs to ease ahead of the opposition, finishing on 128-11-0.

Paul Evans (Storeys) grabbed second with a caster based 106-5-0, another mix of carp and bream, which came from peg 35 on the Sycamore. Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Midlands) was one fish behind Evans with 102-11-0 and Jason Atwell (Kingswinford) was 4th overall with a Chestnut best of 87-4-0.

Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) led the way on Thursday when he was the only one to top the ‘ton’. Paste at 5 metres, combined with corn and pellet close in attracted the fish at Sycamore peg 33 to give Mel a tally of 101-14-0 and plenty to spare over runner up Tony Foster (OB Wolves). Tony was on the opposite bank at peg 22 and used shallow pellet in open water, alternated with corn in the side for 76-3-0 of carp and bream.

Paul Evans framed again, claiming third this time with 69-10-0 at Sycamore 18. That left Bridgnorth's Chris Holmes to finish the frame with 65-3-0 for fourth.

The Beech Pool outshone the Sycamore on Saturday when Pete Plant (Maver) came up with a 118-13-0 winner. Known as something of a caster specialist, Pete opted for shallow fished pellet at peg 5 on the Beech, and netted a succession of carp from 1lb to 8lbs on his way to victory.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte was there again, moving up to second this time with another ton, 102-2-0 from Beech 11. Simon Richardson made it three Maver men at the top of the frame by heading the Sycamore card with 78-13-0 form point peg 13, leaving Alf Taylor to finish things off at Sycamore 21, where he scaled 67-9-0.

The Beech was best again on Sunday when the top four all netted over 100lbs. Sean Barber (Maver) led the way with the top catch of the week, 151-4-0. Shallow pellet was the killing method again, with Sean working hard netting carp from 2lbs to 7lbs.

Harry Colley (OB Wolves) fished corn and meat close to the point at peg 7 on the Beech to find carp to 10 lbs on his way to 127-2-0 for second. A Sycamore best of 111-11-0 from peg 13 saw David Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) pick up third, and another Sycamore ton, 105-7-0 gave Chris Small (Wednesbury) 4th.
