Boldings report

Boldings Report 20/8/08

Kevin Melville (Dorset Pools) romped home in glorious style in the Thursday open at Boldings Pools this week, winning by a margin of over 120lbs.

Kev had the fish queuing up  and eager to snap up his corn offerings at peg 13 on the Sycamore. Fishing to each side of the point had a succession of carp to 9lbs coming regularly to the net for a terrific total of 206-12-0 at the end of the five hour stint.

Steve Roberts (Rod & Gun) had a respectable 80-6-0 on corn at 4metres and close in at Sycamore 30, but was a distant second, ahead of fellow Rod & Gun men Matt Stobbs and Mel Kitson. Matt had 73-12-0 from Sycamore 2 and Mel weighed 65-14-0 at Sycamore 39. Best on the Chestnut was Scott Doodson (R &G) with 60-11-0, which was also 5th overall.

Andy Williams (Vespe) continued his winning ways by opening the week at Boldings with another win, and adding another ton up top score to his list. He drew peg 21 on the Sycamore on Wednesday, and worked to each side of the peg with corn to take a mix of carp and bream for 111-5-0.

Second man Pete Watson (Telford) also had carp and bream, using the same tactics at Sycamore 48 to finish on 93-10-0. Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) scaled 74-3-0 at Sycamore 30 for third and Steve Hall (Oswestry) completed the frame with 61-11-0 at peg 16.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Mid) repeated his ton up Saturday win of last week, using the same corn and paste combination which stood him in good stead on the Sycamore last week. This time Andy was on the Ash Pool and picked off carp to 7lbs close in at peg 6 on his way to 110-11-0.

Tony Foster (OB Wolves) stayed with the winner for much of the match, but smaller fish, samples in the 1llb to 3lb bracket, caught on shallow fished pellet at peg 20 on the Ash, left him 12lbs short at the end, with figures of 98-4-0.

Simon Richardson (Maver) was on the end of the Ash on peg 23 where 88-14-0 gave him third and a Beech best of 76-1-0 put Terry Slater (OBW) into 4th.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) took over at the head of the frame on Sunday, leading the way from the other point peg on the Sycamore, number 8. Colin had carp to 9lbs and bream to 4lbs, fishing close in with corn and pellet, for a 93-3-0 winner.

John Francis (R&G) alternated pellet at 4 metres and corn in the margins at peg 28 on the Chestnut to finish one fish behind on 88-3-0. Next in line was Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) at peg 30 on the Chestnut, with 81-13-0 and David Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) completed the line up with 78-12-0 from the Sycamore.
