Boldings report

Boldings Report 16/9/08

Maver Midlands team men featured in all of the frames at Boldings this week as they put in some practice ahead of the Shropshire Winter league, which kicks off with its first round at Boldings next month.

Top weight of the week though went to Carl Foster (OB Wolves) put together a haul of 97-15-0 to win the Wednesday open. Fishing shallow with paste, three metres out at Hawthorn peg 7, Carl contacted carp to 8lbs.

Pete Plant put in a frame appearance for Maver, filling second spot with an Ash Pool best of 91-2-0. Pete fished pellet, up in the water at peg 16 for 91-2-0 of carp from 2lbs to 5lbs. Charlie Jeavons (Wolves) picked up third thanks to 68-2-0 at Hawthorn 13 and Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) made 4th with 57-5-0 at Ash 20.

Matt McDermott was the first of two Maver rods to score a win with top spot on Thursday. He drew peg 36 on the Chestnut, and offered caster, up in the water to net 77-5-0. Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) fished pellet shallow, and corn close in at Chestnut 30 for 69-7-0 to grab second. Carl Foster framed again with a Beech Pool best of 64-10-0 and Jason Oliver made his trip from Barnsley pay off with 59-7-0 for 4th.

Dave Brown was the next Maver winner, finishing 30lbs clear on Saturday when he weighed in 73-10-0 at Chestnut 7. Dave alternated shallow pellet with corn down the shelf for carp to 7lbs.

The Beech Pool filled the next three places, with Keith Griffin (Little Dawley) slipping into second with just one ounce more than third man Jason Atwell (Kingswinford). Keith scaled 43-7-0 at Beech 16 and Jason 43-6-0 at Beech 6. Matt McDermott framed again with 42-12-0 for 4th at Beech 5.

Paul Evans (Storeys) got in ahead of a trio of Maver rods on Sunday when he hauled in 92-1-0 at peg 38 on the Sycamore. Switching between the 8 metre line, and close in with cater and maggot, kept carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs  coming to the net for Paul’s win.

Simon Richardson was best of the three Maver men, having an Acorn Pool best of 80-10-0. He also worked with caster and maggot, and his net was featured carp to 10lbs. Stu Ballard followed with a Beech best of 77-0-0 and Pete Plant was in the frame again, with another pool best, his 65-4-0 leading the way on the Oak.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) made it a full house of pool bests by taking 5th with 64-2-0 from the Ash.
