Boldings report

Boldings report    8-7-15.

For the second Monday running Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] was the winner of the first open of the week at Boldings Pools, which gave consistent weights all week.

Having won from the Chestnut last week, Colin took the top honours from the Willows this time. Drawn on peg 8 he went for a pellet approach to fish at 4 metres and across to the far bank, where he picked off carp to 6 lbs and barbel to 4 lbs in putting together 110-3-0.

Peg 18 on the Chestnut provided Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] with the runner up catch, 103-13-0, which was made up with carp to 5lbs and barbel to 4lbs, which Phil tempted with shallow pellet. Third man Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] was on Willows peg 4 where he weighed 101-14-0 and at Willows peg 9 79-4-0 put Chris Chambers [Ind] in 4th.

Phil Shaw stepped up to first place on Wednesday, winning from peg 5 on the Beech Pool. Shallow pellet did the job, bringing in 116-14-0 of carp to 6lbs.

Alternating shallow pellet at 4 metres with fishing to the paddles found carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs for a final total of 100-14-0 at peg 3, which handed second to Phil Foster [PI Bold]. Round at peg 9 Terry Holmer [Club 2000] had 91-5-0 in third, with fourth going to 64-6-0 from Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] at peg 11.

The Oak Pool gave the top two catches on Thursday when Jordan Hall [Matrix] led the Way from Oak 8. His decision to offer maggot, up in the water paid off with 133-14-0 of carp to 5lbs.

Paul Evans [PI Bold] was up at peg 22 where caster and maggot down the side gave figures of 111-10-0, which featured carp to 7lbs. Third came from the Chestnut when Steve Hall [Oswestry] registered 99-4-0 at peg, with 91-2-0 giving 4th to Jason Nicholls [PI Bold].

Simon Christian [Sedgeley] converted a third last Saturday to a first this week when his 115-12-0 from Oak peg 1 was too good for the rest. Simon caught on pellet, which he worked at 4 metres and over to the far bank.

Steve Roberts [Oakengates Ang Cent] needed one more of the carp to 8lbs which he included in his 110-8-0 at Oak peg 13 He had his fish on corn and maggot, fished to each side of the peg. Oak 22 featured again, giving third to Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] and not far behind him was Steve Heitzman [PI Bold] on 90-14-0 at peg 31.

Steve Roberts moved up to first on Sunday, leading a trio of Oakengates rods with the top catch of the week, 160-3-0, a catch which consisted of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 2lbs. Steve was pegged on Ash 16 and had his fish on maggot and corn in the side.

Gareth Emlyn was on Sycamore peg 48, where maggot to each side put carp and bream in the net, with samples to 8lbs and 3lbs adding up to 143-14-0. Back on the Ash Shane Rogers was the third of the Oakengates men to frame, his 120-3-0 coming from peg 22. Fourth came from the Sycamore when Mick Jameson [PI Bold] scaled 95-10-0 at peg 4.
