Boldings report

Boldings report    1-7-15.

After a couple of near misses last week at Boldings pools Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] made it back to the top of the frame on Monday this week, winning from Chestnut peg 13. Fishing into the corner, and to open water at 4 metres, Colin contacted carp to 6lbs with pellet on his way to 88-3-0 and first place.

Owen Boswell [Shrewsbury] was only one fish off victory at peg 1 on the dam of the Oak Pool. He worked pellet along the dam and at 5 metres to entice carp of a similar stamp to those of the winner to end the match on 84-15-0. Back on the Chestnut  Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] put his name on third with 71-10-0 from peg 16, then it was back to the Oak for fourth placed Dave Pritchard [PI Bold] whose 69-1-0 came from peg 13.

PI Boldings rods took all the prizes on Wednesday on the Willows Pool, with Dave Hailey leading the quartet. He drew peg 7 and fished out from the point with shallow pellet to net 107-9-0 of carp to 5lbs.

Over to the right of the winner at peg 4 Mick Jameson had carp and barbel on pellet at 5 metres and close in , with fish to 6lbs and 4lbs respectively giving a return of 99-13-0. Over on the opposite bank at peg 16 Phil Shaw picked up another third prize thanks to a level 89-0-0 and Dave Pritchard had another 4th by weighing 65-4-0 at peg 9.

Corn and pellet to the side of the island and in the margins at Chestnut peg 28 helped Tony Woolaston [Fatty’s] to a narrow victory on Thursday. Carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs combined to give a total of 101-9-0, which was just 5 ounces more than Phil Foster [PI Bold] at Sycamore peg 22. Phil netted carp to 6lbs and barbel to 4lbs using pellet at 5 metres and close in to finish on 101-4-0.

Last Saturdays winner Dave Brown [Maver] grabbed third when he scaled 95-14-0 at Chestnut 4, leaving Alun Jones [Tricast Weston] to complete the prize list with his 79-13-0 at Sycamore 25.

The Chestnut came up with another winner on Saturday when Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] posted the best weight of the week, 147-8-0. Paste put the fish on the scales for Andy, with carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs coming from the inside line at peg 27.

Martin Richards [Stoke MG] had carp and barbel, also on paste, to finish second on 103-13-0 at peg 13. At peg 16 Simon Christian [Sedgeley had 66-8-0 in third, with Mal Hawkins [Ind] fourth at peg 10 with 62-1-0.

Sean Barber [Maver] made it two Sunday wins on the trot when he was victorious from Sycamore peg 8 this week. Pellet, fished up in the water attracted carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs to Sean’s swim, and he netted 107-13-0 of them to finish 22lbs clear of Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent]. Gareth was in the middle of the long bank, at peg 37, where the fish ran bigger, with carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs responding to maggot, but the weren’t enough of them, and he left on 85-6-0 at the whistle. Third went to Steve Roberts [OAC] on 80-2-0 at peg 48, and fourth to an Oak Pool best of 77-13-0 by Colin Wozek [Matrix].
