Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  25-3-14.

The better weights came in the early part of the week at Boldings Pools, with top catch in the five matches coming on Monday. It fell to Chris Jones [Carp Crew] after he drew peg 20 on the Ash, which tackled with pellet and maggot. Fishing close in found carp to 7lbs for final figures of 123-9-0.

At peg 7 on the other side of the pool, Tony Foster [PI Boldings] fished up in the

water with pellet to match the catch rate of the winner, but with fish from 1lb to 4lbs making up his catch, he had to settle for second when the scales settled at 107-15-0.

Less than 2lbs off second came last Mondays winner Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] who netted 106-2-0 at Ash peg 23. Fourth went to a Beech Pool by Mick Jameson [PI Bold] who completed the first all ton frame of the year with 100-12-0.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] got back to winning ways on Wednesday when he recorded a clear victory from peg 6 on the Chestnut. Maggot fished down the edge produced 102-12-0, which included over 40lbs of bream which were accompanied by carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs.

At peg 30 on the same pool Howard Williams [Tricast Weston] had carp to 7lbs with bream to 2lbs in a net of 70-2-0, taken on pellet and maggot, close in. Top man on the Sycamore was Dave Lloyd [Maver] who finished third overall with 66-12-0 from peg 13, and at peg 48, last Wednesdays winner Dave Brown [Maver Midlands] collected 4th with his 64-10-0.

Harry Colley [PI Bold] was another angler making a return to the winners enclosure this week, taking the spoils on Thursday. Meat and pellet, offered at 5 metres, and to each side of peg 13 on the Oak, gave a return of 93-15-0, which included carp to 8lbs.

At beech peg 7 Nige Clarke [Matrix Total Angling] kept pace with the winner for most of the match, but smaller fish, carp to 4lbs, left him just short at the finish on 89-2-0.

Back on the Oak Steve Lovell [Mosella Bait Tech] took third from peg 1 on the end of the dam by weighing 75-11-0, and at peg 27, Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] had 69-4-0 in fourth.

Maggot, fished shallow and in the margins at peg 4 on the Sycamore set Brian Clarke [Colmic Marukyu] on the road to an emphatic win on Saturday. Carp and barbel snapped up the bait, with samples to 6lbs and 3lbs adding up 95-2-0, which gave Brian 36lbs to spare over the rest.

Jack O’Sullivan [Oakengates Ang Cent] followed up his followed up his 4th of last Sunday with a second on this match, netting 58-12-0 of carp to 7lbs using shallow caster and maggot at Sycamore 50.

At peg 33 Alan Naylor [Oak Ang Cent] scaled 54-11-0 in third and at peg 24 43-14-0 gave Adam Jones [Willenhall] fourth.

Sycamore 4 came up with another on Sunday when shallow caster and maggot provided an all carp 99-0-0 for Colin Wozek [Matrix TA]. The same tactics produced carp and bream for Richard Guest [Maver Midlands] at peg 16 on the Chestnut, who was 3lbs behind the winner on 96-0-0. Third came from the Oak where Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] netted 92-14-0 at peg 1. He was followed by Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] on 89-3-0 at Oak 29.
