Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  20-11-12.

Mick Jameson [Mid Leisure] added to his Thursday win at Boldings last week with victory on the first match of the week this week, and it came from the same peg as his previous success, Oak 21. Fishing further out this time, with pellet at 10 metres at the back of the island, Mick was into carp to 6lbs, which gave a return of 49-4-0.

The rest of the frame weights came from the Hawthorn Pool, where roach to 1lb featured alongside the carp. Runner up Carl Foster [PI Boldings] included roach with carp to 5lbs in his 45-12-0, caught on close fished maggot at peg 13. Third was taken by Dave Jones [Oswestry] at peg 7 where he weighed 43-4-0 to hold off Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] on 41-3-0 at peg 3.

The top weight of the week came on the Wednesday open and fell to Shane Rogers [Oakengates Ang Cent] who was drawn on Sycamore peg 49. Offering maggot and corn down the shelf, Shane tempted carp to 4lbs and barbel to 3lbs to build a weight of 89-15-0.

Second went to Howard Williams [Wrexham] at Sycamore 8, where waggler fished maggot and corn put 68-5-0 on the scales, a weight which included a carp of 12lbs. Winner of the previous Saturday match, Gary Morris [PI Bold] was third with 61-9-0 and Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] had 53-8-0 for fourth.

On Thursday the next peg to Wednesdays winning spot was the one to help Allan Jones [Tricast Weston] to victory. He pulled corner peg 50 on the Sycamore from the draw bag, and tackled it with pellet, corn and maggot, fished into the sides, where carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3 lbs were lurking. Added together they gave a total of 83-10-0, which put Allan clear of Gary Morris, who moved up a place on the previous day to pick up second. He was also on a corner peg on the Sycamore, number 4, where he opted to fish at 8 metres with pellet, to pick off carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs on his way to 68-0-0.

Harry Colley [PI Bold] had top weight from the Larch, 64-8-0 to finish 3rd overall, and three pegs along from the winner, at peg 47,  Mel Kitson [Rod & Gun] had 58-8-0 in 4th.

Sycamore peg 5 hasn’t come up with many winners this year, but did so on Saturday, which goes to show, you never know, and shouldn’t pre- judge. Mitch Davidson [Maver Gold] attacked the peg with maggot down the shelf approach, and was rewarded with carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs, which gave a winning total of 64-7-0.

Mel Kitson framed again, moving up to second by scaling 57-11-0. He was on Sycamore 45 and had carp to 6lbs on pellet and maggot, fished close and at 5 metres.

Graham Palmer [Fitters] was top man on the Chestnut and third overall with his 48-14-0 from peg 18 and at Sycamore 13 Dave Brown [Maver midlands] had 43=5=- to pick up 4th.

Three different pools gave the top three weights on Sunday, with Ash 20 coming up trumps for Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent]. Maggot at 8 metres, alternated with close in tactics found carp to 5lbs totaling 56-7-0.

Mick Jameson finished the week in the frame again with a hawthorn best of 48-0-0, taken on pellet and maggot at 10 metres and down the shelf, to narrowly beat John Wild [Stafford] whose 47-5-0 came from Beech peg 7. Back on the Ash Dave Brown had another 4th by netting 45-7-0 at peg 16.
