Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  17-7-12.

Big weights filled the frames at Boldings Pools this week, with only the Wednesday open being won with less than 100lbs, and that was won with only 14 ounces under the ton.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was back to his Monday best, claiming the top prize on the first of the weeks events with 149-3-0. Close in tactics, with pellet bait, found carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs at Chestnut peg 30.

Colin Wozak (Telford) followed up last weeks Wednesday win with a second on this match. He was on Chestnut 28, where corn and pellet to the island, as well as close in, put 116-14-0 of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 2lbs on the scales.

Over at peg 4 Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) topped the ton to pick up third with 100-6-0, and 94-3-0 at peg 36 gave Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) 4th.

Shallow pellet tactics, combined with corn down the side saw Josh Humphries (ABC) take a very narrow victory on the Beech Pool on Wednesday, his 99-2-0 of carp to 8lbs from peg 18, only beating Richard Duke (Bridgnorth AS) by three ounces.

Richard was on point peg 7 and had a mixture of carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs on shallow pellet for 98-15-0.

Corner peg 3 yielded 71-11-0 to give Gary Morris (PI Boldings) third, and at peg 26 Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had 63-4-0 in 4th.

On Thursday Richard Duke got the better of another close finish and stepped up from second to first. He fished shallow pellet again, this time at peg 6 on the Sycamore, where carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs added up to 102-1-0. That edged him ahead of Terry Slater (Baggeridge) at point peg 13. He fished corn and pellet at 5 metres and close in to net 101-0-0 of carp and skimmers.

Paul Evans (PI Bold) had top weight from the Chestnut, 99-2-0 to collect third, ahead of Graham Roberts (PI Bold) on 87-0-0 at Sycamore 18.

Weights were up at the week-end and peg 13 on the Sycamore saw Jason Atwell (Kingswinford) top the 150lb mark on his way to a Saturday win. Carp to 9lbs responded to his corn and pellet combination, fished to each side of the point, to give final figures of 150-7-0.

On the other point John Francis (R&G) worked pellet at 5 metres as well as close in to net 124-8-0 of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs to finish second.

On the Chestnut Colin Reynolds scored his second placing of the week, taking a pool best of 118-14-0 to finish third overall, with 4th going to 116-9-0 by Carl Foster (PI Bold) at Sycamore 4.

Top weight of the week was reserved for the last match of the week, and went to Jason Elwell (Phil’s Tackle). It was the Sycamore again which proved best, with peg 21 providing Jason with his win. Double figure carp and barbel to 3lbs featured in a total of 157-5-0, which fell to corn and paste, worked in the margins.

Mark Lloyd (Oakengates Ang Cent) headed the list on the Larch Pool by offering paste at 6 metres at peg 26, where Mark picked off carp to 8lbs.

n (Oak Ang Cent) made it an all ton top four with 113-8Back on the Sycamore, at peg 6 Phil Taylor (Dams & Locks) had 115-5-0 for 3rd and Gareth Emly-0 at peg 13.
