Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  11-7-12.

The Monday affordable open on the Chestnut Pool at Boldings Pools gave a fairly even frame with the top three all in the 140lb bracket, with Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) leading the way from peg 9. Alternating shallow pellet tactics with fishing the margins helped Phil to 148-10-0 of carp to 8lbs, and he needed every one of his fish, as Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) kept pace with him right up to the whistle. He was on peg 6 where a mix of carp to 7lbs, bream to 3lbs and barbel to 3lbs, caught on pellet down the edge, added up to 145-7-0.

At peg 26, Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) was only one fish behind on 141-1-0, and at peg 36, Colin Wozak (Telford) scaled 137-8-0 in 4th.

Colin Wozak had a similar weight on Wednesday on the Oak, but this time 136-3-0 was too good for the rest, putting him over 52lbs clear. Colin was on peg 2 on the dam and had carp to 7lbs on pellet. Mick Jameson moved up a place to take second this time, his 83-11-0 mix of carp and barbel coming to pellet at 4 metres, and close in.

Phil Shaw was in the prize list again, taking third from peg 8, where he weighed 82-4-0, which left Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) to pick up 4th with his 54-13-0.

The Willows Pool provided Les Thompson (Matrix Bait Tech) with a Saturday winner after he drew peg 18 on the pool. Working with shallow pellet, les put a lot of carp in the 1lb to 5 lb range in his net for a total of 130-5-0.

At peg 11 on the Beech, Shane Rogers (Oakengates Ang Cent) took carp to 7lbs fishing pellet, shallow and down the edge for his runner up 96-9-0.

Phil Shaw made his third frame appearance by picking up another third, his 87-11-0 coming from Beech 11. Back on the Willows Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) had 85-10-0 for 4th from peg 12.

Kelvin Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) followed up his Saturday success in the Macmillan Pairs match with a win in the biggest match at Boldings. His was the only frame weight from the Hawthorn Pool, but it was the one that counted, as maggot fished close in at peg 5, behind the island, put 155-15-0 on the scales for victory.

Second came from the Ash where Scott Doodson (Preston Innov) had a haul of carp from 1lb to 4lbs for 134-7-0 on shallow pellet from peg 9. At Willows 19 Dave Matson (R&G) had 113-15-0 to pip Andy Williams (Vespe) on 112-9-0 at peg 16.
