Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  9-5-12.

Richard Duke (BAS) enjoyed wins at each end of the match programme at Boldings Pools this week, opening with a 108-15-0 victory on Monday. Caster, fished shallow did the trick with carp to 6lbs at peg 5 on the Hawthorn.

The next two weights came from the Oak, where last weeks Monday winner Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) made the first of four trips to the prize table. He fished pellet at 4 metres and to the side of the tree at peg 13 to find carp to 7lbs for a total of 93-1-0. Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was on corner peg 19 where 83-3-0 just held off the Beech best of 82-15-0 by Tim Morris (Wolverhampton).

Keith Miller took over top spot on Wednesday, winning from Sycamore peg 49. Shallow pellet alternated with paste in the side put 87-9-0 on the scales, which included carp to 7lbs.

Peg 21 on the Chestnut provided Mick Jameson with his second runner up of the week. Pellet at 5 metres attracted carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs for a close second of 85-2-0. 78-14-0 from point peg 13 on the Sycamore saw Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) into third and a level 57-0-0 from Sycamore 4 gave Tim Probert PI Boldings 4th.

Nige Clarke (RAF Trabucco) combined shallow pellet at 12 metres with close in paste tactics at Oak peg 29 on Thursday, a combination which helped to build a 124-15-0 winner which featured carp to 8lbs.

On the other side of the pool Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) worked pellet at 4 metres and maggot close in to weigh 107-5-0 for second. Behind Eric, with a Sycamore best of 97-5-0 was Phil Rhodes (PI Bold) and following him with another pool best was John Wild (Stafford) whose 74-8-0 came from the Chestnut.

Jason Elwell (Phil’s Tackle) had top weight of the week to win on Saturday, and his catch was made up with mostly small carp, with just the odd one to 8lbs helping things along. Fishing pellet at 5 metres on peg 5 on the Willows gave Jason a busy time building his weight to 131-0-0.

Mick Jameson finished second for the third time, and yet again he did it with a pool best, and made it a trio of different pools when this catch came from the Sycamore. Carp to 9lbs put in an appearance at peg 24, picking up Mick’s pellet, fished at 5 metres and in the margins to give a return of 99-1-0.

Back on the Willows, at the next peg to the winner, Keith Perrin (Tipton) finished a close third on 96-9-0 and at Sycamore 33 John Francis (R&G) scaled 86-4-0 in 4th.

Richard Duke returned to the winners enclosure on Sunday, this time from the Sycamore, where a switch from shallow caster to pellet had carp to 8lbs and barbel to 2.5lbs lining up to give figures of 117-0-0.

Pellet and caster fished to the island at Chestnut 23 found carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs for Graham Palmer (PI Bold) to put together a runner up 97-6-0. Andy Williams (Vespe) headed the Larch card with 83-9-0 for third overall and Mick Jameson finished off his highly successful week with a fourth placed 75-13-0 from Sycamore 45.

Boldings are running a Queens Jubilee two day Preston Innovations festival on June 4th and 5th.
