Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 30/3/10.

Martin Travis (Total Angling) filled top spot at Boldings Pools on Wednesday, winning from peg 29 on the Oak with a mix of carp and skimmers, caught shallow on pellet, which weighed 78-10-0. On the opposite bank Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) fished corn and pellet in the side to find carp to 6lbs for 70-0-0 and second place, with third going to Alan Jones (Deggys) on 50-8-0 at island peg 21.

Alan Jones moved up from third to first on Wednesday when his was the only frame weight to come from the Sycamore. He was on the point at peg 13 and fished pellet at 7 metres to sort out carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs to win with 64-15-0.
The next three weights came from the Chestnut, the best of these going to Perry Dalgarno (MSTA) at peg 21. He had 60-10-0 of carp to 6lbs, close in and at 10 metres on pellet. Tony Foster (OB Wolves) followed with 56-2-0 at peg 27 and Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) had 54-12-0 at peg 14.

The Sycamore provided first and the Chestnut the remaining three places again on Thursday, when weights were on the upturn. Ian Hughes (Shimano Wales) was the winner this time, topping the ton from Sycamore 34. Shallow fished maggot and caster brought in carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs for Ian.
Andy Williams (Vespe) was best on the Chestnut, using shallow maggot and corn, close in at peg 35, where he included carp to 10lbs in a level 90-0-0 return. Ed Turner (OBW) almost opposite Andy on peg 4, and scaled 84-4-0 for third, with dave Barnard (R&G) completing the frame with 72-1-0 at peg 14.

With fish moving up in the water, Dave Brown offered caster in the upper layers on Saturday at peg 16 on the Chestnut and put together a mix of carp and bream for 86-13-0. That put him 20lbs clear of a Sycamore best of 65-11-0 from Ken Humphries (Morgans) who caught on pellet, shallow and close in at peg 33.
Back on the Chestnut Carl Foster (OBW) scaled 53-2-0 at peg 21 for third and  a Willows top score of 50-13-0 gave 4th to Ian Ward (MSTA).

From runner up on Monday, Colin Reynolds stepped up to first place on Sunday when he recorded the best weight of the week, 118-10-0. Pellet at 10 metres and close in at peg 7 on the Chestnut had carp to 8lbs lining up, but despite the big weight Colin didn’t have a great deal to spare over Nick Powell (OBW). He fished similar tactics to the winner at peg 39 on the Sycamore, where carp and bream added up to 109-7-0.
Peg 30 on the Chestnut yielded 91-15-0 to Eric Bancroft (R&G) to give him third, leaving Josh Humphries (Morgans) to finish of the week with 75-5-0 in 4th.
