Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 23/2/10.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) was the first of two winners from last week at Boldings to make top spot again this week, following up his Thursday victory with a win on Wednesday this time out.

Dave picked Middle peg 8 out of the bag, not too promising as the peg hasn’t featured much during the cold weather. Almost any peg in the bag at Boldings can come up with the goods though, and Dave proved the point by taking carp to 3lbs on pellet, fished at 8 metres and close in, for 34-7-0.

Runner up Carl Foster (OB Wolves)was on peg 13 on the Hawthorn, where pellet at 10 metres attracted carp to 4lbs to give figures of 32-9-0. Back on the Middle, Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) had 28-14-0 at peg 3 for third, with Gary Morris (OBW) in close attendance on 27-1-0 at Middle peg 9.

Richard Lawson (Maver Midlands) took the weeks top weight for the second week on the trot when he fished through the snow showers on Thursday to net 41-9-0 at peg 3 on the Hawthorn. Richard alternated between 9 and 12 metres with pellet and maggot to find carp to 5lbs.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) found carp and skimmers with pellet at 12 metres at peg 5 on the Ash to scale 29-2-0 for second. Hawthorn peg 13 featured again when Karl Hayward (Sedgeley) put 26-9-0 in the weigh net for third, and Stuart Aston (Swan JT) had a Stock pool best of 22-13-0 in 4th.

Saturday was a hard day with temperatures of minus 3c, which depressed weights and 26-7-0 from Willows peg 16 was enough to move Pete Ricketts up to first place. It was his decision to fish the straight lead with pellet on the hook which gave him the victory, with carp to 3lbs making up the catch.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was in the corner at peg 1 on the dam wall on the Oak Pool and fished pellet down the side of the dam to pull out 19-8-0 of small carp for second. Third man Steve Roberts (Oakengates Ang Cent) had 18-11-0 from next to the winner to finish third and an Ash Pool best of 17-3-0 gave Ken Humphries (Morgans Angling) 4th.

Steve Millward (MS Total Angling) scored a narrow victory on Sunday when the Middle Pool gave the top three weights. Steve was on corner peg 11 and worked pellet and maggot, alternating between 10 metres and close in. Carp to 4lbs obliged for a final tally of 39-10-0.

Diagonally opposite Steve Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) offered pellet at 9 metres and close in to tempt carp to 5lbs, but finished a fish short on 37-15-0. Mark Lloyd (Telford) scaled 30-4-0 at Middle 9 for third, with Graham Roberts (OBW) exactly a pound behind him with the top catch from Hawthorn, 29-4-0.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 16/2/10.

The prize money was well spread at Boldings this week, with 15 different names appearing in the frames of four matches, and only Neil Turner (Fosters Tipton) framing more than once, with a third and a fourth to his credit.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) set things rolling with a 30-10-0 winner on Wednesday, the catch coming to pellet, fished to the paddles at peg 1 on the Middle Pool.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) offered pellet and maggot at 12 metres at peg 11 on the Middle to claim second with 25-7-0. Stuart Aston (Swan JT) was top man on the Hawthorn to take third overall with 21-2-0 and back on the Middle, Howard Williams (Weston Pools) had 17-11-0 in 4th.

Ash peg 5 gave the winning catch on Thursday last week, and did so again this week. Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) was the beneficiary this time as carp to 4lbs responded to his pellet, presented at 10 and 12 metres, to give a return of 35-9-0.

Down on the Deepdale Ken Humphries (Morgans ) also had carp to 4lbs on pellet, fished long, but finished 10lbs short of the winner on 25-7-0 at peg 7. Diagonally opposite Ken, John Wild (Stafford) had 19-6-0 for third at peg 11 and Scott Doodson (Maver Sonubaits) completed the line up with 18-2-0.

The best weight came on Saturday and fell to Richard Lawson (Maver) who had easily the best catch from the Chestnut, a level 52-0-0, caught on maggot, fished to the island at peg 2, and featuring carp to 6lbs.

Second came from the Larch, where Steve Owen (Mid Leisure) used corn at 10 and 12 metres to tempt carp to 5lbs to end the day on 47-9-0. Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonu) led the way on the Sycamore with 28-0-0 from peg 2 to finish in third and Neil Turner had the first of his frame finishes when 0 from Larch peg 24 gave him 4th.

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) stepped up for the winners purse at the end of Sundays match, and it was Chestnut peg 21 which produced the goods again. Gary fished corn to the island and into open water at 14 metres to put together 41-11-0, helped by carp to 5lbs.

Ash peg 5 was in the frame again, this time for Dave Matson (R& G) . He fished corn, pellet and maggot at 10 and 12 metres for an even 36-0-0. Next to him, Neil Turner had 34-2-0 for second frame visit, and Dave Perry (OBW) finished off the weeks frames with 30-8-0 from Chestnut 32.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 9/2/10.

Pete Tolley (OB Wolves) Gary Morris (OB Wolves) and Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) all cashed in more than once at Boldings Pools this week as match weights began to increase as the days lengthen.

The week started with a win for Pete Plant (Maver) who headed a tight frame on Wednesday with 29-13-0. He was on peg 5 on the Hawthorn and fished maggot to the Island for carp to 3lbs. Along at corner peg 7 Tony Foster (OBW) also fished to the island with maggot, as well as picking off a few fish close in to scale 28-8-0 for second, just holding off Mick Jameson who had an even 28-0-0 at peg 13 to collect third, with Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) 4th on 21-1-0 at peg 11.

On Thursday Jameson moved up to top spot after drawing peg 5 on the Ash. Pellet, fished at 7 metres had carp to 4lbs coming to the net to total 39-5-0. Almost opposite Mick, on peg 18, Pete Ricketts made the frame again, moving up to second with 34-12-0, which came to maggot and pellet at 12 metres.

Gary Morris was in the frame for the first of three appearances, collecting third with an Oak Pool best of 25-13-0, and 4th also came from the Oak when John Wild (Stafford) scaled 23-4-0.

Like Mick Jameson before him, Gary Morris moved from third to first, claiming the honours on Saturday with 33-4-0 from Ash peg 7. Pellet and corn at 10 metres did the trick for gary, with carp to 4lbs making up the catch.

This was the day Pete Tolley made the first of two frames for the week, with a corn based 28-0-0 taken on the 12 metre line at Ash 5. Hawthorn peg 13 gave third place for the second time this week when Stuart Aston (Swan JT) put 25-2-0 on the scales, and hawthorn 7 framed again, this time for Shane Rogers (Oakengates Ang Cent) who had 23-15-0.

Pete Tolley took his turn at moving up to first on Sunday when he posted the top weight of the week, 63-12-0. Pete had carp to 6lbs on corn at 12 metres at peg 30 on the Chestnut, and needed every fish he landed as Dave Hailey (OBW) was hard on his heels with a Sycamore best 62-6-0. dave fished maggot at 12 metres and into the corner at peg 4 to net carp to 5lbs.

Back on the Chestnut Phil Rhodes (OBW) had 55-1-0 at peg 6 for third and Gary Morris was in the frame for the third time with a 4th best 28-12-0 from the Sycamore.
