Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 15-12-09

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) enjoyed three frame appearances at Boldings Pools in the week, taking two firsts and a fourth. He began the week with a win on the Monday open on the Chestnut, after drawing peg 32, where carp to 6lbs responded to his corn and pellet combination, fished at 12 metres and into the margins. At the whistle, Gary had 61-9-0 in his net, enough to give him over 14 lbs to spare over runner up Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes). Bob fished pellet to the island and in the side at peg 28, where carp to 5lbs made up his 47-3-0 final weight. Third came from next to the winner when Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) scaled 41-8-0 at peg 37.

Steve Roberts (Rod & Gun) collected the main prize on Wednesday, putting a 60-5-0 winner on the scales at peg 10 on the Chestnut. He fished pellet at 8 metres, alternated with maggot in the side, for carp to 7lbs.

Carl Foster (OBW) is making the frame regularly at Boldings, and picked up a second on this match. He was pegged three down from the winner on number 7, and went out to 10metres with pellet, and like the winner, offered maggot close in, but found smaller fish, with samples to 5lbs adding up to 50-2-0.

On the opposite bank, Andy Williams (Vespe) netted a level 44-0-0 for third at peg 32, and Gary Morris took his 4th place with a Beech best of 43-1-0 at peg 26.

On Thursday Morris bounced back to the top , leading the way from peg 8 on the Middle Pool. Switching between the 10 metre line and close, with pellet, he picked off carp to 5lbs to scale 40-8-0.

Ken Humphries (Morgans Angling) grabbed second from the other side of the Middle Pool, using shallow maggot tactics to net 31-6-0 at peg 3. Just up from Ken, at peg 5 Bob Tromans got in on the act again, filling third place this time by weighing 29-10-0.

Fourth went to a Stock Pool top score of 29-0-0 by Neil Turner (Fosters).

Neil Turner followed the example of Gary Morris by moving up from 4th to first on his next appearance, which was on the Saturday open. Neil put together the top weight of the week at peg 30 on the Chestnut, using shallow fished cater and maggot for a 74-0-0 total, which included carp to 8lbs.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) was top man on the Sycamore, netting 52-10-0 at peg 8. Andy fished pellet at 10 metres and maggot in the side for carp to 5lbs.

John Francis (R&G) put 42-13-0 on the scales at Sycamore 46 for third and Carl Foster framed again with 35-0-0 at Sycamore 49.

Point peg 13 on the Sycamore came to the fore for Stafford rod John Wild on Sunday, when a combination of pellet and maggot, fished at 6 and 10 metres put 70-0-0 on the scales, a weight which included fish to 7lbs.

A straight lead rig, baited with maggot helped Alan Jones (Deggys Wrexham) lay claim to second place, putting carp to 5lbs in the net for a tally of 56-14-0 at Willows peg 8.

Jamie Potts (OBW) headed the Larch Pool card with 52-15-0 to finish third and Pete Moss (Telford) made it four different pools in the frame with a Chestnut best of 36-12-0.
