Boldings report

Boldings Report 23/7/08

Four different pools provided the winners at Boldings this week, starting with the Middle on Wednesday, when Mark Mountford (Shifnal) headed the frame with 88-13-0.

Mark drew corner peg 1 and opted for a paste approach, offering it at 5 metres, and close in, to find carp to 6lbs.

Along at peg 5 on the same pool Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) fished corn and pellet into the corner for carp to 5lbs, which added up to a second best 74-11-0.

Andy Williams (Vespe) fished to the paddles at corner peg 15 on the Hawthorn Pool to net 69-6-0 for third and on the same pool Pete Watson (Telford) netted 54-6-0 at peg 12 to finish 4th.

Thursday saw a very similar winning weight when Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) took the honours from peg 32 on the Chestnut. Corn and pellet, fished to either side of the peg had carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs coming to the net for a total of 88-11-0.

Runner up Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) also had carp and bream at peg 16 on the Sycamore, where he offered pellet and paste, finishing one fish behind Barnard on 85-6-0.

Mark Mountford framed again, finishing only 8 ounce behind Ricketts on 84-14-0 at peg 22 on the Sycamore, leaving Dave Matson (R&G) to pick up 4th with 77-12-0 at peg 4.

John Francis (R&G) followed up hi week-end double of last week with another win on Saturday, putting the Hawthorn Pool at the top of the frame with a winning net of 81-2-0. John included roach to a pound with carp to 6lbs, all on pellet fished in the side at peg 15.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was four pegs up from the winner at peg 12 where corn and pellet, alternated between 8 metres and close in gave him a return of 77-14-0, with carp to 7lbs helping him to second place. Colin was closely followed by Tony Foster (OB Wolves) who had a Deepdale best of 76-9-0 at peg 12. fourth went to a Middle Pool best of 72-3-0 by Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) and Mark Mountford had a Stock Pool best of 63-12-0.

Colin Reynolds moved up a place to claim first on Sunday in a close finish with Carl Stringer (Oakengates Ang Cent).

Colin drew corner peg 4 on the Sycamore and worked corn into the corner and out at 5 metres to pick off carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs which gave him a final tally of 91-8-0.

Carl had all carp in the 1lb to 4lb bracket on shallow fished pellet at peg 9 on the Ash and was left needing just one more of the smaller fish when the scales settled at 90-11-0. Pete Ricketts framed for the second time with a third best 86-3-0 at Chestnut 21, and Mel Kitson (R&G) completed the top four with 70-12-0 at Chestnut 28.
