Boldings report

Boldings Report 25/08.

The rough weather on Sunday seemed to stir the fish up at Boldings and Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) put more than double the Saturday winning weight on the scales. Fishing corn and pellet, close in at peg 7 on the Chestnut saw Gareth netting carp to 10lbs on his way to the weeks best total of 141-5-0.

Ed Turner (OB Wolves) also had the fish going well at peg 33 on the Sycamore. He fished pellet at 4 metres and corn over pellet close in to find carp to 8lbs, ending the day on 111-8-0. Third man Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) wasn’t far off the ton with 96-2-0 at Sycamore 30, and an Oak best of 75-9-0 saw Harry Colley (OB Wolves) frame for the second time, having finished third the previous day.

The mid week matches gave tight frames, with 2lbs being the difference between the top two on Wednesday and less a pound and a half on Thursday.

Wednesdays winner was Graham Evason (OBW) with a mix of carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs, caught on corn and pellet at 8 metres from peg 25 on the Sycamore.

Andy Williams (Vespe) had bigger carp, fish to 7lbs, but smaller bream, up to 2lbs, at peg 8, fishing maggot and corn close in. Those smaller cost him, as he finished on 73-5-0. Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had 65-3-0 at peg 13 for third, and mark Mountford had top weight on the Willows, 56-15-0 at peg 13, to finish 4th.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) scored the first leg of a winning double on Thursday, when he went out to 5 metres off point peg 13 on the Sycamore, to offer corn. Carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lb responded, to give Dave figures of 64-7-0.

It was a close run thing though, with Andy Williams having to settle for a close second again. He was Chestnut peg 32 this time, where carp to 6lbs, on corn fished to each side of the peg, added up to 63-2-0.

Back on the Sycamore, Mick Jameson finished third again, putting 60-9-0 on the scales at peg 50, and Wednesdays winner Graham Evason framed again with 56-12-0 at peg 47.

‘Barney’ drew Sycamore 13 again on Saturday and had virtually the same weight to win again, putting just 6 ounces more on the scales to weigh 64-13-0. he had to out a bit further to find the fish, offering corn at 10 metres to earn the win.

Peg 32 on the Chestnut provided the runner up again, this time for Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) who had a level 57 lbs on corn at 4 metres.

Harry Colley had the first of his two placings when he scaled 52-6-0 at Sycamore 42. Two Dorset Pools based men, Kevin Melville and martin Davenport were separated by one ounce, in the remaining places, Kevin having 48-2-0 at Chestnut 18 and Martin 48-1-0 at peg 37 on the same pool.
