Meanwhile, on the
Boldings was one of the fisheries where the fish were happy with the warmth, and gave two ton up winning catches.
First of these went to Andy Williams (Vespe) on Wednesday, and came from peg 5 on the Middle Pool. Combining corn and pellet at 5 metres, Andy netted a succession of carp to 7lbs to finish on 118-3-0. Second placed Martin Travis (Sensas Total Angling) was leading light on the Hawthorn Pool, taking 95-3-0 from peg 1. he fished corn and pellet close in, alternated with shallow pellet in open water, and included carp to 6lbs in catch.
Third went to 74-9-0 from jack Hailey (OB Wolves) at Middle peg 3, and opposite jack at peg 10, Mark Mountford (Shifnal) scaled 69-7-0 in 4th.
On Thursday Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) slipped into top spot at ‘corner’ peg 3 on the Beech Pool. Fishing paste to the paddles and out at 6 metres, he picked off carp to 8lbs on his way to 89-1-0.
Andy Williams added a second spot to his list with a Chestnut best of 69-14-0. This time Andy fished corn in the margins, and shallow pellet at 6 metres, to net 69-14-0 at peg 16.
Third man Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was also on the Chestnut, scaling 63-1-0 at peg 36. Close behind him was Rod Arnold (
Darren Frost (Shimano Wales) had the best weight of the week on Saturday when the Sycamore Pool came into the reckoning with the top two catches. Darren concentrated on shallow fished caster at peg 30, in the corner at the end of the long bank, and was helped to 121-14-0 by carp to 9lbs.
Matt Stobbs (Rod & Gun) switched between shallow fished maggot and corn close in at peg 22, where carp to 8lbs added up to 90-2-0.
Harry Colley (OB Wolves) had a Chestnut best of 73-10-0 at peg 21 for third overall, with Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) 4th on 69-5-0 at peg 13 on the Sycamore.
Dave Brown (Wolves) followed up a brace of placings last week with a win on Sunday this week. Shallow fished maggot in open water, and the same bait close in brought 86-4-0 of carp to 8 lbs. to Dave’s net, putting him 24 lbs ahead of Harry Colley, who framed for the second time in two days. Harry had an Oak Pool best of 62-4-0, taken on meat out in the pool, combined with pellet in the side at peg 7.
Andy Williams also framed again, a Chestnut top of score of 54-6-0 giving him third, just ahead of Andy Amos (Sensas) on 54-1-0, also on the Chestnut.
