Boldings report
SPORTS DESK. 3/7/07
Boldings Pools gave another full house of tons this week, with all four opens being won with over 100lbs, even though there was some awful weather to contend with again.
Wednesday and Thursday both produced all ton frames, with Thursday proving the highlight of the weeks proceedings.
Dave Barnard (Maver Wolves) started things off when he finished just ahead of Pete Plant (Maver) on Wednesday, taking top place from peg 32 on the Chestnut, where corn and pellet got the fish going, close in, with carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs adding up to 113-5-0.
Pete was on peg 47 on the Sycamore, and went out to 12 metres to offer caster up in the water for carp to 9lbs and tench to 4lbs, which gave a return of 112-14-0. Third placed Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) was also on the Sycamore, at 8, and scaled a level 103-0-0, and David James (Mosella Storeys) completed a close frame with 101-14-0 at Sycamore 5.
On Thursday, David James moved up from 4th to 1st to head a tremendous frame with the top catch of the week, 184-9-0. The catch came to corn and pellet, fished close in at corner peg 28 on the Sycamore, and featured carp to 11lbs.
Andy Williams (Telford) was top man on the Chestnut, but had to settle for second overall, even though he netted 168-15-0, fishing maggot and corn, close in and out to the island to take carp to 9lbs. Third also came from the Chestnut when Warren Russon (MB Angling) offered up 133-0-0 to the scales at peg 32, then it was back to the Sycamore for 4th, with John Wild (Cudmore) ending the match with 129-6-0 at peg 13.
On Saturday Andy Williams was the one to move up the ratings, converting his second on Thursday to a first on the bigger week-end event.
He was the only one to make the ton this time, with

A windy Sunday saw another lone ton top the list when Dave White (Maver Tipton) made peg 9 on the Beech a winner. He tackled the peg with shallow fished pellet, and found carp to 9lbs, out on the 12 metre line to rack up a 104-0-0 total. Mick Williams (Rod & Gun) wasn’t far off the ton with 97-7-0 on pellet and corn at Beech 23. Simon Richardson (Mosella) had 86-14-0 for third at Beech 14, and just behind him was Paul Evans (Storeys) on 85-11-0 at Beech 7.
