Steve Owen [Monkhall] took charge of the Wednesday open at Boldings Pools by fishing corn at 11 metres after he drew peg 39 on the Sycamore. Carp and bream both found the bait to their liking, and fish to 6lbs and 2lbs respectively combined to give figures of 47-10-0.

Along at peg 33 Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] worked with maggot at 8 metres to finish second with 30-14-0 of carp to 5lbs. Shane Rogers [Oakengates Ang Cent] had the first of two frame finishes when he weighed in 29-2-0 for third at peg 22, and three pegs away from Shane, Graham Palmer [Fitters] claimed fourth with 26-6-0 at peg 25.

Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] took on the winners mantle on Thursday by presenting maggot 10 metres out from peg 32 on the Chestnut. Carp to 5lbs responded to give Eric a return of 33-15-0.

Terry Edwards [Swan Elite] alternated between 10 metres and close in with maggot at Willows peg 13 to find carp to 4lbs which totalled 24-9-0 to give Terry second place, only three ounces ahead of Matt Stobbs [Oak Ang Cent] whose 24-6-0 came from Chestnut peg 6. Opposite Matt, on peg 36, Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] scaled 21-7-0 in fourth.

Shane Rogers booked himself a Christmas bonus with his second frame finish of the week, which saw him take the top honours on Christmas

Eve. Pegged in the corner, at peg 4 on the Sycamore, Shane worked maggot at 12 metres to tempt carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs to end the match on 43-13-0.

Over on peg 47 Colin Wozek [ABC] also offered maggot, fishing at 12 metres and close. He had carp in the 4lbs bracket to finish second on 29-13-0. Steve Hall [Oswestry] was one fish behind at peg 13 where he weighed 26-2-0, and just behind him, on 24-11-0 at peg 38, was Josh Humphreys [ABC].

The Boxing day laurels went to Nige Clarke [Monkhall] who led the way from peg 32 on the Beech Pool by presenting corn at 10 metres, which sorted out carp in the 6lbs range for a final tally of 48-5-0.

On the other side of the pool at peg 18, Sean Barber [Maver] offered pellet, which produced smaller fish, samples to 4lbs, which left him short of the target on 34-7-0. Steve Owen made the frame again, his third placed 31-3-0 was the best weight from the Chestnut, and just pipped the 31-1-0 by Dave Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] who was also on the Chestnut.
