REPORT

Boldings report    10-8-16.

There was no hanging about by Harry Colley [PI Boldings] at Boldings Pools this week, he set the pace with the top catch of week to win the Monday open from peg 5 on the Beech Pool.

Following on from two frame finishes last week, Harry worked with corn, pellet and meat, which he presented close in to tempt carp to 9lbs and barbel to 3lbs to build a haul of 195-0-0.

On the Hawthorn Pool, at peg 5 again, Last Mondays winner Stephan Davies [Shrewsbury] fished to the island, and on the close in line to make his runner up catch, 105-5-0, which was made up with carp in the 6lbs bracket. It was the Oak Pool which provided the third placed catch for Mick Keene [Tricast Weston] who weighed 92-14-0 at Oak peg 27, then it was back to the Beech for fourth placed Danny Boden [Oakengates Ang Cent] who scaled 90-4-0 at peg 7.

Peg 47 on the Sycamore proved it's consistency with a winning weight for Paul Roberts [PI Bold] on Wednesday when his caster, fished at 4 metres, and close in down the side found carp to 8lbs to give a final total of 118-6-0.

The race for the rest of the frame placings produced a tie for second, with Kel Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] and Dave Brown [Maver] both scaling 89-9-0. Kel had carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs on corn, pellet and meat, worked down the side at Willows peg 8, while Dave used caster at 8 metres and in the side to net carp to 8lbs and barbel to 5lbs at Willows peg 2. Harry Colley made the list again, finishing a close 4th with his 88-12-0 at Willows peg 9.

The Chestnut Pool gave three big ton weights on Thursday, with Jordan Hall [Middy] leading the way with an excellent 175-4-0 from peg 21. Caster proved best again, attracting carp to 8lbs, together with bream and barbel to 3lbs, into the swim to give Jordan his victory.

Round at peg 15 Dave Doughty [Woodend] used corn, pellet and meat for his net of carp to 9lbs, with barbel to 4lbs to finish second on 153-7-0. Dave Brown added to his prize collection by picking up third from Chestnut 30, where he recorded 124-12-0, and a Sycamore top weight of 94-10-0 saw Andy Williams [Vespe] into fourth.

Things were a little slower in the sultry Saturday weather and 92-4-0 of carp to 6lbs on close in pellet and corn gave Tony Foster [PI Bold] a winning margin of nearly 10lbs. Tony made his catch at corner peg 3 on the Beech Pool.

Over at peg 20 on the same pool Les Thompson [Matrix] opted for caster and maggot down the edge and at 5 metres, and netted 82-11-0 of carp to 7lbs to finish in second. Third went to the top catch from the hawthorn, which was taken by Alan Naylor [Oak Ang Cent] who had a level 77-0-0 at peg 9. Just behind third, with an Oak Pool best  catch was Simon Christian [Sedgley] on 69-5-0 at peg 18.

Maggot, fished to the island and down the side at Hawthorn peg 5 helped Dave Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] to victory with 131-4-0 of carp to 7lbs  on Sunday.

Beech peg 3 featured again, producing 123-15-0 of carp to 6lbs to give Bob Baker [Fosters] second. Bob caught caster, worked shallow, and along the edge. Kevin Melville [Shrewsbury] claimed third from Beech peg 16 where he called 100-13-0, leaving Simon Dicken [Woodend] to finish off the frame with 81-4-0 from Hawthorn peg 11.
