Boldings report
Boldings report 3-11-15.
At Boldings Pools Steve Owen [Monkhall] enjoyed more success this week with a victory in the Monday open on the Ash Pool. Applying a maggot approach at peg 18, Steve worked at 12 metres, with regular forays to the inside line, and picked off carp in the 7lb range to build his winning net of 106-6-0.
Along at peg 14 Harry Colley [PI Boldings] rang the changes with pellet, meat and corn to tempt carp to 8lbs, but was left needing one more of the bigger fish when the scales settled at 100-6-0. There was a big difference between second and third, when Jason Atwell [Kingswinford] recorded 58-13-0 to fill third at peg 9, and over at peg 16 52-9-0 put Phil Rhodes [PI Bold] into 4th.
Mick Keene [ABC] scored another Wednesday win on the Oak Pool, this time from peg 3 in the middle of the dam, where he switched between shallow with on the deck tactics, using maggot and pellet. Carp to 5lbs added up to 66-7-0 to put Mick at the top of the list.
Over at peg 29 last Mondays winner Dave Pritchard [PI Bold] had a similar stamp of fish to those of the winner by offering maggot, close in and at 8 metres, to end the day on 59-2-0. Paul Hemmings followed at peg 31, where he netted 48-7-0 to stay ahead of Frank Mountford [PI Bold] who had 44-9-0 at peg 22.
Ben Stanford [Monkhall] took on the winners role on Thursday, winning from peg 14 on the Chestnut with a shallow caster attack, which brought a haul of carp to 6lbs totalling 113-10-0.
Second came from the Willows Pool in the shape of Simon Richardson [Maver] who alternated shallow pellet with fishing on the deck to net 98-4-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs. Dave Pritchard made the list again, collecting third thanks to a Sycamore best of 78-7-0 from peg 8, and back on the Chestnut Rob Hancox [Kings] was a close 4th on 76-7-0 at peg 32.
Caster, fished shallow on the 14 metre line at Sycamore peg 49 brought a steady supply of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs to the net of Richard Davenport [Chirk] on Sunday, helping him to build the top weight of the week, 126-9-0.
Steve Hall [Oswestry] was close behind the winner all through the match and finished one fish behind at the whistle, his 121-7-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs coming from Willows peg 9 and also falling to shallow caster tactics. Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] made it a top three of tons by recording 102-6-0 at Sycamore peg 25 and back on the Willows Steve Owen had another “framer” with 98-13-0 from peg 5.
