Boldings report
There was another Thursday win for Jordan Hall [Middy] at Boldings Pools this week, and the caster tactics which won previously did the trick again. Drawn on peg 18 on the Chestnut,
Runner up Ben Stamford [Monkhall] also worked with caster at peg 30, fishing up in the water and close in to the bank. He had carp and barbel, with fish to 7lbs and 3lbs returning 99-14-0. Over on peg 4 Dave Brown {Maver] banked 93-7-0 for third, with Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] not far behind on 88-4-0 at peg 7.
Things were tight on Saturday when Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] just got the better of Harry Colley [PI Boldings]. Ken was on the Larch Pool at peg 4, where maggot and corn at 6 metres and in the margins resulted in 69-14-0 of carp to 7lbs dropping into the net to give Ken the win.
Harry was on peg 9 the Chestnut Pool where he combined corn and pellet down the side for slightly bigger carp, fish to 8lbs, but at the whistle he was 14 ounces shy of the target on 69-0-0. Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] was only one fish behind second when he weighed 65-10-0 at Chestnut peg 21, and just 4 ounces further behind was Jamie Langford [PI Bold] on 65-6-0 at Larch 6.
In the Nick Gretton Memorial open, three Middle Severn Angling rods, all close friends of the man being remembered, filled the first three places in the frame.
One of the three, Andy Kyte was the only angler to have won the match on two occasions, now he is the only one to have won three times, as he outpaced the rest to win by 40lbs. Drawn on Willows peg 22, Andy worked with caster to fish down the edge and at 5 metres to tempt carp to 8lbs along with barbel to 4lbs, which built into a final weight of 128-8-0.
Along at peg 16 Richard Duke fished shallow, and in the side with caster and maggot to net 88-4-0 of carp to 7lbs. In close third was Chris Holmes, whose 86-5-0 came from peg 8, and next to him at peg 7 Dave Hailey [PI Bold] scaled 75-5-0 in fourth.
