Boldings report

Boldings report    2-9-15.

Visiting Somerset angler Dave Olly [Bridgewater AC] made off with the top prize on the Monday open at Boldings Pools. Offering pellet, shallow and at 3 metres attracted carp to 7lbs into the swim at Chestnut peg 30, and Dave slid the net under 129-3-0 of them for victory.

Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] found a mix of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs using pellet and corn at peg 5 on the Chestnut to finish second on 110-4-0. One decent fish behind was Harry Colley [PI Boldings] whose 103-9-0 came from Chestnut 13. Josh Humphreys [ABC] had a Willows Pool top score of 101-0-0 in fourth.

Josh Humphreys jumped to the top of the list on Wednesday after he drew Ash peg 16 and used a combination of caster and maggot to net the top weight of the week, 132-3-0, which was made up with carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs.

On the end of the Ash at peg 23 Mondays winner Dave Olly was amongst the prizes again,  taking second this time with 87-8-0 of carp to 8lbs, caught on pellet at 4 metres and down the side. Dave Cook [Bronx] and Phil Taylor [Dams & Locks] had a close battle for third, with Dave edging the place with a Beech Pool best of 79-13-0 to Phil’s 78-15-0 from Ash 3.

Harry Colley was the one to move up to first on Thursday when he combined meat and corn to net 127-11-0 of carp to 9lbs and barbel to 3lbs at Chestnut peg 18.

Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] edged second by two ounces, with his 105-11-0 from Chestnut 39 squeezing out Jordan Hall [Middy] who had top weight on the Sycamore, 105-9-0 at peg 34. fourth also came from the Sycamore when Paul Evans [PI Bold] scaled 82-14-0 at peg 30.

The Chestnut was more subdued on Saturday when 73-15-0 from peg 16 handed victory to Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling]. Shallow pellet and maggot down the side worked for Andy, finding carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs.

Caster and maggot was the choice of Dave Brown [Maver] at peg 32 and it helped him to 67-4-0 and second spot. Simon Christian [Sedgeley] claimed third by scaling 63-5-0 at peg 13 and Colin Reynolds framed again with a level 60-0-0 at peg 40.

Dave Hailey [PI Bold] came close to recording top weight of the week for the second week running when he won his second successive Sunday open. He finished less than 2lbs short of Josh Humphreys mid week best when his shallow pellet approach at Larch peg 16 have a haul of 130-8-0, which featured carp to 6lbs.

Second went to Colin Wozek [Vespe] at peg 8 where caster and maggot brought in 109-7-0 of carp and bream. Close behind second, on 107-2-0 was Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] at peg 7 and just along the bank from him Colin Reynolds picked up another fourth by weighing 103-12-0 at peg 4.
